I wasn't sad until you mentioned it and realized that most on here do not get the reference.

I feel even sadder because I liked the original version that used New Jersey and almost nobody remembers it, just the newfangled New York City version.

As an 18 year old, can confirm, do not understand reference.

You were in your senior year of high school when I was a sophomore. God damn I'm starting to feel old now...

Like last night it blew my mind that shows like "Ed, Edd, & Eddy" and "Dexter's Laboratory" are as old to kids these days as "Voltron" and "GI Joe" were to us. It's only a matter of time before the cartoons we grew up with are part of some late night Nickelodeon show.

Well at least you know now.

And knowing is half the battle!

36 years old, zero sadness.

You're old enough to remember it?? Apparently the commercial is from '93 according to the title of the video from this post.

I'm pretty sure they either ran that commercial for several years or kept using that line in new commercials for a while. I'm 29 and I definitely remember it.

It was Pace's entire marketing campaign for a few years, yes.

Yes, they definitely used the same thing in a few commercials with a few variations. Basically, Pace is made in San Antonio, "where they know what picante sauce should taste like," and then someone else says, "Thus stuff's made in New York City!" Everyone is surprised ("NEW YORK CITY!?!"), and that's basically the end.

Favorite one was where a guy held up a cattle brand and said, "It's time you changed brands!" To the guy.

? I'm 20 and I remember it. They must have released more recently.

Old?! :(

Just remember, kids aged 12 to 14 also use this site. Is that less than half your age?

u/ImaBusbitch Dec 06 '16

Still reading it in that dumb voice

u/MystJake Dec 06 '16

I've heard it so many times from so many different sources, but I've never understood it. Where did it originate?

1

u/Sw4rmlord Dec 07 '16

I'm just thinking of the pace commercials. Idk if there was something before that

I already ordered some dentures so I can just pop them in when they start falling out.
