I have to preface this by saying that although I do particularly love the art style of the original quite a bit more (and not just here, but throughout the entirety of the game)....I have to admit, Max's look of absolute shock here hits so much harder for me in the remastered version. They nailed the sheer emotional trauma behind those eyes.

As someone who is a new player of LIS, I’ve seen a lot of discourse between amberprice and pricefield and I would love to know your interpretations of each relationship?

As I have recently just finished playing BtS, I thought I would add my two cents! To be clear before the storm broke me, I shed many tears and experiencing her relationship with Rachel Amber first hand was chefs kiss from the developers!

With that being said, do I think that Rachel and Chloe were in love and that they’re soulmates? No I don’t.

I believe that Chloe was infatuated with Rachel, and Rachel cared deeply for her. I think they both saw the mystery in each other, especially Rachel with Chloe and wanted to know more under the surface. That feeling you get when you’re 16 years old and you meet the person who finally gets you, that one person you fall hard for and you’d do anything for them, it’s dependency, this intense, burning, emotional connection they’ve formed with each other that is painted in their eyes as (potentially) love, but really it’s just infatuation and admiration, but when you’re young it feels like it’s so much more.

For me, Rachel’s feelings for Chloe were fleeting, I think she cared for Chloe a lot, but deep down she’s looking for a solution to her dissatisfaction and unhappiness in life in other people and ultimately that pattern is only going to leave you moving onto the next person and inevitably that’s what Rachel did. That doesn’t take away and sincerity in their relationship, Rachel was in Chloe’s life for a lot of her good times and I truly believed they did make each other happy, but Rachel was always going to leave sadly and latch onto the next person who could get her one step closer to what she wants..

Now, so I believe Max and Chloe are endgame? I can’t say that for sure, but do I think they were in love, it’s possible and it’s my canon. From a friendship standpoint they love each other, there’s no doubt of that fact. Chloe’s whole journal was just letters to Max, that doesn’t come from a person who isn’t thinking about someone every moment of everyday..

Their connection to one another is palpable, you feel it the very first moment they’re back together after being apart for long, especially when they’ve rekindled their friendship, it’s almost like nothing had ever changed. Max and Chloe’s “intimate” scenes together are also so much more gentler and softer, there’s tentativeness and care. The conversations they have are deeper. I think Max definitely developed feelings for Chloe much more intensely, But I do think Chloe has always had feelings for Max, much more deeper than a friendship, but I only think those feelings began to surface when her trust with Max was beginning to rebuild.

Hello! I am playing the Arcadia Bay collection. In the second Chapter after Max and Chloe are on the junkyard there should be a movie sequence (from what i saw online). My switch crashed 3 times now in that exact scene. I can't press any game related buttons, only exit via the home button.

Is this a known problem. Is there anything i can do? I am really hooked but can't keep playing. ☹️

I'm looking for people who have played the original Life is Strange (2015), whether during its first episodic release or after, for a short interview (15 to 30 minutes, online via Discord or Teams, during the month of June).

I really hope we're gonna hear Hannah and Rhianna in some new roles in the future in LiS or some new game from Deck Nine/Square Enix.

I gave it to Max because I trusted that she wouldn't give up this new opportunity with Chloe. Max is not a teen anymore; she knows that she can't save everyone, even with her powers

I've seen other people have an issue with this, but the tipps they are getting are not helping in my case. The first scenes play out fine until I'm in the memory/nightmare part with Chloe around the start.

I play on a laptop, but I have most of my graphics lower except for stuff like shadows so it doesn't lag too much. Restarting scene OR game is of no help, I don't have HDR on and Anti-Aliasing is on low.

From the last katesvid.com post, I gathered a lot of ideas and feedback from the community. One idea from u/Mal454 (over 100 upvotes) was to add a "fake" comment section to the website where Blackwell students react to Kate’s video and the events surrounding everything that happened.

I really liked the idea and thought it would be a great addition, so I created a first draft of katesvid.com version 2. I’ve added a comment section, original LIS1 thumbnail images, and also a link to the Two Whales Diner (as a AD).

Now I need your help to make the comment section feel as realistic and character-accurate as possible. Since I’m not very experienced with creative writing (and honestly pretty bad at it), I thought it would be cool if we could collect some comment ideas together here for the site. The current comments are all placeholders.

Feel free to come up with anything that would fit the Blackwell students and the atmosphere around the events. :)

Daniel of LiS2 fame was a mega brat who never freaking listened. Why? Because there was no lesbian in a beanie to offer a guiding hand.

It's been a while and I'm desperate. I have played all games so far and DE was the only glitchy one but it still worked. With Reunion there seem to be no options whatsoever. Honestly, it's devastating a huge part of the fandom are simply left with no choice.

I’ve never played LiS before and have heard great things about it. Both the original and the remaster recently went on sale on steam and I was looking at buying the game. The original game is on sale while before the storm is not, this is why I was thinking of getting the remaster as it includes BtS so I could get both games for cheaper than getting both originals separately. However a lot of people have said that the remaster isn’t anywhere near as good as the originals and is very buggy. What I wanted to ask was, is the remaster worth it and is it still very buggy?

Hi! I've been wanting to play it for a long time since I played the first chapter for free in my xbox a FEW years ago. Left it a bit after the bathroom scene. Today I saw that it was 85% off on Steam so I couldn't pass it up. What's something I won't understand until later? The only thing I know is a choice that says something like (HEAVY SPOILERS)Save Chloe/ Arcadia Baybut I don't know the context behind it so we're chill I think. Thanks!

there are six types of characterisation i’m going to use here:
- hero
- antihero
- asshole
- antivillian
- tragic villain
- villain

a specific character may fit into multiple categories and i’ll elaborate on both if so. please remember this is just my opinion so be nice pls, haven’t been on here for a while.

MAX CAULFIELD - hero, antihero (mild)
max caulfield is definitely the hero of the story. she puts herself in harms way multiple times to solve rachel’s missing case, who hurt kate, and protects chloe. she’s a genuinely good friend who wants the best, even going so far as to see what the timeline where william is alive is like.

HOWEVER, there are some traits that give her a mild antihero status too. these are more player choice options, like snooping in dana’s room for the pregnancy test, stealing the disabled money, shooting frank at the junkyard etc, but the fact that these are choices shows that she has the agency to do it, but also like breaking into the school.

the fact that she has antihero qualities (albeit mild like i’ve mentioned) is what allows her to be a hero. whilst i’m also a bae-er, choosing one person over thousands in a town is a bit shitty, ALTHOUGH I UNDERSTAND WHY SHE DOES THIS AND WOULD ALSO POTENTIALLY DO THE SAME.

CHLOE PRICE - hero, antihero (moderate)
i think chloe also deserves hero for being a sidekick to max for the entire series, and without her, i don’t think max would have been able to save arcadia bay. however, i think she has more antihero qualities than max does, including selfishness, where she can blame max for the weed to save herself, comes up with the idea to steal the money, etc etc. i think because she propagates some of the ideas that gives max her own antihero traits, she becomes a moderate antihero as even though it’s for a good cause, it’s still theft, breaking and entering, etc.

i do have to give her her props for being so selfless at the end and TELLING max to save the bay though.

WARREN GRAHAM - asshole.
sorry. i think if someone tells you they don’t want to go ape, it means they don’t want to go ape. warren is a classic example of toxic masculinity to me. he’s cute and has some likeable traits, but this one irked me in more ways than one, and is a direct example of how LIS1 is a game about rape culture.

NATHAN PRESCOTT - tragic villain
i know this will piss some people off, but it’s quite agreed (as of the last time that i was here) that nathan would be different if his dad agreed to medical advice and jefferson didn’t manipulate him. yes, the boy has agency, but the question is how much? what did the drugs do to him? what was said and done to him? we don’t know.

this again, does NOT excuse his actions, but i’ve placed him as a tragic villain as i think he was ushered down the path, rather than willy nilly choosing it. i don’t think he killed rachel for multiple reasons, but i do think he drugged kate, and i know he took compromising photos of chloe (and was a weirdo about it too)

DAVID MADSEN - anti-villain
david madsen, i think, is a classic anti-villain. he is an antagonist, is in the way, spies on everyone, including his own family, and is rigid in his ways. however, two things make him an anti-villain to me. the first is that he knows something is wrong in arcadia bay and is desperate to protect people from it. (mark jefferson even admits that madsen was close to finding out). the second is that his own potential PTSD from the war may contribute to his major security overreaction.

VICTORIA CHASE - tragic villain turned redeemed
victoria begins as a tragic villain, publishing the video of kate, ruthlessly bullying max, etc, with the “tragic” status coming from her own insecurities. what makes this worse is that trying to save victoria is what leads to her doom. however, she begins to change her ways and mend the bridges she burned, even if some believe she’ll never fully be able to.

RACHEL AMBER - antihero, asshole
rachel amber is a classic antihero. her heroic qualities stem from doing good things for her own self image, and seem more selfish than altruistic. she manipulates many people so she can get what she wants based on the fact that she can put on a mask and play the part. she steals alcohol at the lookout, dives into the criminal underworld with frank, and likely would have broken chloe’s heart if she stayed alive. HOWEVER, she pulled chloe out of a dark place, and will ALWAYS be the hero in chloe’s story. she also acts on raw impulse and starts a forest fire.

RAYMOND WELLS - villain
the guy cares about money from sean more than he cares about his students’ safety. need i say more?

MARK JEFFERSON - villain
no words needed. callous, cold, committed. 100% believe he killed rachel, has indecent photos of over 20 (at least) girls, kills chloe and nathan, manipulates nathan into believing he killed rachel, manipulates principal walls, leads kate to suicide after he dosed her and photographed her, kidnapped victoria, kidnapped max. ‘nuff said.
