Question Should I get an iPad mini for my senior year of high school?
I feel like most people ask if they should get one for college, but I just want to know if it would be a meaningful investment for my final year of high school. I'd only be taking four classes this coming fall, and most coursework is online anyway. I currently use my laptop, which has a 14" screen, and as much as I love my laptop, I want something smaller. I want to switch to a smaller school bag and have a smaller device that will still allow me to effectively complete my work (using apps like Canva, Canvas, Google Docs, etc). I don't mind having to buy accessories like a keyboard; I just want to know if it would be worth my money, all things considered.

Want to upgrade from iPad mini 5. To what?
I like my iPad mini 5, but with only 64gb memory I've had to offload lots of apps. In addition, the battery life is declining but spending money on a replacement battery would be a waste on money. Also, it seems fairly slow with significant, frequent delays. I like the mini form factor because I use it most as a reader and I can easily hold it with one hand.
What should I upgrade to? I think I should get one with 256gb memory. I'm pretty sure that would be more than enough. I'm thinking of a new, or refurbished, 7th Gen mini. Or would a used or refurbished 6th Gen with 256gb be sufficient? Would going to 512gb make any difference for performance? Money is a concern so I don't want to spend any more than I need to.
I've read about a possible iPad mini 8 coming but don't think I'm willing to wait for that.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Is there demand for an iPad mini with lidar or is it just me?
I do a lot of 3d scanning for living and I really think the iPad mini would be the perfect all in one everyday workstation. It would also function as a monitor when I need to use my dedicated 3d scanner.
I sadly realized however that there is no current iPad mini available with lidar.
I understand that no one can know right now but do any of you believe/hope the next gen could be offered with a lidar?

What should I do with my 1st gen mini?
Mom is in the hospital and mostly napping so I got lots of time to kill while hanging with her. Using this old mini for books and retroarch (snes and genesis). What else could/should I do with it?

Why is my Mini much, much slower than my other iOS devices?
My mini is new this year. I also have a full sized iPad new last year and a mini 13 iPhone. When they are all connected to the same network and same WiFi my mini sometimes takes a full minute to load pages that appear quickly on my other devices. This happens with YouTube, Reddit, and websites using Chrome in general. Sometimes it just crashes out and doesn’t load at all. Strangely I have a few games that require a connection and it doesn’t affect them. Is there some setting that I’m missing? When I restart the mini it’s better for 10 minutes then back to the same.

Question Original iPad Mini as a raw photo viewer?
I have the original iPad mini that I used between 2014 to 2020. I do a lot of photography on the side and wonder if I can convert it to view and cull raw photographs? And if so, how should I go about doing it? Jailbreaking is fair game but I do need a refresher after not having done it for a decade.

Advise Tempted by iPad Pro M4 deals but thinking iPad Mini 8 OLED makes more sense
I have a MacBook Air M4 and a iPhone 15 Pro Max. I’ve always loved iPads and have pretty much always owned one, but this is the first time I’ve genuinely questioned whether buying another iPad Pro actually makes sense for me anymore. I keep looking at the 11 inch iPad Pro because the OLED screen looks incredible, but at the same time I’m not convinced I’d use it enough now to justify the price because the crossover with my MacBook Air and phone feels much smaller than it used to.
I had an iPad Pro 11 from 2018 right through to 2024 and honestly loved it. It became one of those devices I used without even thinking about it because it slotted into daily life so easily. I mainly used it with the Apple Magic Keyboard case and occasionally without it, which made it feel like two completely different devices depending on what I was doing. With the keyboard attached it almost became my main portable computer for years. Great for typing, browsing, YouTube, Netflix, social media, shopping, emails and just general day to day use. Then taking it off the keyboard made it feel more relaxed and casual again for sofa use, bed, travelling or just carrying around the house.
Back then it made perfect sense because laptops still felt bulkier and less convenient than they do now. But Apple Silicon MacBooks have changed everything a bit. The MacBook Air M4 is ridiculously light, insanely fast and the battery life almost feels fake at times. It wakes instantly, runs silently and handles absolutely everything I throw at it effortlessly. It’s one of the first laptops I’ve owned that actually feels enjoyable to use casually as well as productively. Because of that the iPad Pro no longer feels like it has the same unique place in my setup.
Then there’s the iPhone 15 Pro Max which has become such a good media and everyday device in its own right. The screen is amazing, the speakers are brilliant and for quick browsing, YouTube, messaging, social media and general day to day stuff it already covers loads of what I used to pick an iPad up for. So when I look at another 11 inch iPad Pro now I keep wondering if I’d just end up reaching for the MacBook most of the time anyway.
The annoying thing is there are such good deals around now on the iPad Pro M4 with the Apple Magic Keyboard on eBay and other places that it keeps tempting me back again. A few years ago that sort of setup would have been an instant buy for me because I genuinely used my old one constantly. Even now I still love the whole idea of the iPad Pro experience. The OLED display, the thin design, the keyboard setup, the portability, all of it still appeals to me.
The weird thing is I still absolutely love the whole iPad experience. There’s something about them that feels more relaxing than using a laptop. They’re more personal somehow. Sitting on the sofa with one, watching YouTube or Netflix, casually browsing, taking it to the gym, travelling with it, lying in bed scrolling or reading, they’re brilliant for that type of use. That side of the experience never really goes away once you’ve had one for years.
That’s why the iPad Mini 8 OLED idea keeps sticking in my head more than the Pro does. I think my usage has shifted over time from wanting one device to do everything, to wanting each device to have its own role. The MacBook Air already dominates productivity for me and the iPhone handles loads of quick casual stuff, so a Mini feels like it would complement both rather than compete with them.
A Mini would be easier to hold for long periods, easier to throw into a bag, more comfortable for travelling, gym use, sofa use and bed use, and just generally more effortless to pick up and enjoy. It would feel more like a pure leisure device again rather than a halfway point between a laptop and phone. And if Apple finally gives the Mini a proper OLED display as rumoured, I honestly think it could end up being the perfect balance for me without feeling like I’ve bought another expensive device that mostly duplicates what I already own.

Couldn't resist
Just got it! I spent a long time debating whether it was worth waiting for the 8 or buy a e-reader,but in the end, I decided to go for it.
I’m a university student, and I mainly use it for reading and taking notes on PDFs. With that in mind, are there any paper-like screen protectors you’d recommend?

can we at least get the pink color back?
other than thinner bezels, possibly pro-motion, 120hz, and other noticeable things, can we at least get the pink color back? it does not make sense to me that apple kept it in their iphone line up, and now released it on the new macbook neo. the last pink ipad was the ipad air 5 released in 2022. apple will make so much money from the ipad mini girlies buying the pink color 😭 I had a mini 6 in pink 3 years ago, and I miss it so much.
edit: I forgot about the 10th gen ipad and the a16, they also have pink but a bit too much in my opinion

What's your a17 pro every day use?
Just picked up the mini 7 with Hou keyboard case/cover+ pencil pro. Absolutely love the size and power so far. Thoroughly enjoying my digital art far more than my m4 13'.
Beyond the media consumption, gaming, and art, what are you guys using your mini 7 for?

Сумасшедший разряд моего IPad mini 6

REFURBISHED Pro M2 or Ipad mini
I just found out that the Ipad mini 256 cellular and a refurbished pro 11" M2 with the same specs are closely priced. Now I'm contemplating, I haven't really check what the pro is capable of, but the mini's portability is really something as well.
I have an 16 pro max and I have been looking for an Ipad for productivity(school, editing, notes, and etc.) And for a bit of gaming. I never once considered the Pro because of it's size and I've always preferred devices like the mini because of it being compact and portable. I'm also one of those people waiting for the new 8 mini to release and while waiting I've only found out about the refurbished pro M2 11", however I'm afraid it wouldn't fit in my line up. But i wanna hear your thoughts about this people, if i should really consider just getting the pro M2.
