So I've had an idea for the past few days. I was typing up my motivation letter for a university in Europe when I had the realization - 'Holy, this is actually kinda fun.'

See, I've been really bored ever since school ended for me, and I've been thinking of ways to productively use my time. But every time I do something, I end up not liking it, or being bored by it. Keep in mind, I've been exploring productive niches on the side, wasting my time on this when I had actual work to do ( applying to colleges, which for some reason I've been too lazy to do ). Everything felt boring.

That is, until I started to lock in and actually do the admission work. I started to write an essay for Common App, and it took a long time, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. After I finished it, I went back to my old ways - lazing around the house, snacking on chips/cake/peanuts.

Then, some time later, I realized that I couldn't use the same essay for my motivation letters for European colleges - their layouts were just too different. So I laid aside an entire day and dedicated myself to creating a new text wall when I realized that I was actually having fun. I was having more fun than I'd had the past few months. Epiphany.

THEN, my friend asked me for help with HIS motivation letter for his own application. And when I started the task, editing here and there, and talking to him about it, I realized I actually loved it. The work felt fulfilling. I woke up and immediately opened Instagram, not to binge on reels but to text my friend, review the essay, etcetera etcetera.

What if I market this? It doesn't even have to be application letters, any type of essay is fine. I just like writing.

It would be fun. It would make me money. I like having fun. I love money.

Hey! Looking for a solid video editor for ongoing work with a UK financial education YouTube channel.

It's talking-head content - pretty simple stuff. Two camera angles, provided graphics pack, LUTs, music and fonts. Your job is mainly clean cuts, natural pacing, colour grading with the LUTs we give you and integrating the graphics. Nothing crazy.

The big thing for us is English comprehension. The presenter sometimes restarts lines or stumbles - you need to catch all of that and cut it out cleanly. If you can't tell the difference between a natural pause and a flubbed line, this probably isn't the right fit.

Software-wise we prefer DaVinci Resolve but we're open to Premiere or FCP if your work is good and you're willing to eventually transition.

Rate is £20-30 per video (~$26-40 USD). Not a one-off - if it works out this becomes regular ongoing work.
