Discussion 8 Years 😢
It's been 8 years since you left us, but it still feels like yesterday you were here to ask and answer one simple question. RIP TB 😢

Hello everyone.
As discussed here, we've seen an influx of "this person reminds me of TB" threads over the last months. Ordinarily those would fall under rule 4), since a simple "this is similar to TB" followed by content completely unrelated to him was, in our view, not really enough to fulfill the "heavily features TB" part of the rule. We do, however, understand that People have an interest in finding someone who might fill the hole TB left. As such, after internal deliberations and listening to community feedback in the thread linked above, we've come to the decision to allow threads in that manner up on the subreddit and ease up on the strictness in which we follow rule 4) a bit.
Why not a sticky for these threads?
Pinned megathreads were one of the suggestions for the problem, both internally and in the feedback we got. I've decided against those for now, mainly because we don't yet know how high the amount of threads like this will be in the end. Threads get archived every 180 days or so, so we'd have to create a new one twice a year - and if there's no significant amount of posts like this, we'll eventually end up with a sad sticky that gets 3-4 replies and then nothing. As such we'll allow regular posts first and, if those get too much for our liking, we might decide on going down the sticky route. This seems the most sensible solution to me.
What if it gets abused?
One of the concerns I voiced in the discussion was that people might abuse this for self promotion. That's probably still a concern, but I feel the positives of allowing the threads outweigh this possible negative. We'll keep an eye on things, though, and might reevaluate our decision if we find that there's too much abuse. If you see a thread that you think is just self promotion, feel free to report it and we'll take a closer look.
So that's about it. Feedback is, of course, still welcome. Feel free to write us a mod mail, if you have any concerns that you don't want to air publicly. If there's any questions, I'm happy to answer them.

Hello everybody,
as some of you likely noticed (and as discussed here and here) there recently has been some conversation about AI generated content featuring TBs likeness. I want to make it explicitly clear that we will not permit any of that being posted on this subreddit. Doing so will incur a permanent ban. If you see anything you think may be AI generated, feel free to report it and we'll take a look.
I've also amended the subreddit rules to clarify the modteams stance on this. The rule is as follows:
11) We do not permit any AI generated clips of TotalBiscuit, be they in audio or video format.
Should be visible in the sidebar on both old and new reddit, if something ain't working right in that regard, let me know.
Thanks,
Wylf
/edit: A bit ambivalent on AI generated pictures featuring TB. Haven't included them in the rule as of yet, but might do that, if it becomes a problem in the future.

I vaguely remember TB talking about a 3 faction PVP game that was too advanced for its time. The factions were like soldiers that rely on numbers, alien hunters that were more elite than the average soldier, and a faction controlled by a single player controlling a growing monster.
Anyone remembers the video title?

Hi guys, I'm scouring the net in search for the old EPIC reunion special with TB and Kikijiki from the old WC Radio days.
I know that it's been on the old WCRadio archives, but it's not available in any of the accessible Blue Plz or EPIC archives I've looked through. Any chance anyone has it or can point me in the direction?
All I was able to find that might actually have the file is a very old and dead torrent link that does not even work, but it does show in the file list.
Thanks.

Anyone know any other game-space creators similar to TB? Near the end was one thing, but early on he was always pro-consumer and the commentary I've enjoyed from him I don't see emulated anywhere else.

I was having a dream about a game that doesn't exist and somewhere along that I ended up thinking "What would TB think about this" and woke up in tears. It's so easy to forget sometimes but man I miss him.

I just noticed that and wanted to share it. I apologize if it's already a known thing.

Does anyone have these missing episodes:
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9384608/?ref_=ttep_ep_60
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9384610/?ref_=ttep_ep_61
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9384618/?ref_=ttep_ep_62
Also, if someone wants to collab, I'd gladly start sharing what I downloaded to some kind of repository as long as it's maintained and organized. These were rips of the highest quality right from Youtube before the podcast was removed (I got the earlier Co-op polaris episodes from a torrent someone on here shared). I otherwise most of his works with tagging and metadata that I'd be willing to upload but not host.

I remember when I just kind of expected his opinion on games even though I knew very little about the wider gaming market at the time. I would love to see what he would say about the current industry. We really did lose a legend in 2018

The video was about 2014/15. The contents was basically just him talking about the power that Steam has on the gaming industry. (argued against it being a monopoly but gave merit to the ubiquity of Steam)
He also talked of one developer and their fan hate. I believe they had “Blank” 2 on Steam but they decided to release 3 independently, and the fans got incredibly pissed. He said something to the effect of how it crucial it is to end up on steam.
Ps: completely different landscape now in that I feel anything can end up on Steam however no one has gotten close to what Steam offers. GOG? I guess idk

The Google Drive that used to host all of TB's old audio works, like Gaming the System, everything from WoW Radio (Epic, BluePlz, Titan, etc), and the audio versions of some of his parody songs, which used to found at this link (https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0BzN90CC_xhvDbE1UUmhIdWg3aGc?usp=sharing) appears to be down, unfortunately.
A real shame, especially since it was such a complete and well-maintained repository.

Hey, I wanted to recommend TB's "Gaming the System" podcast that he did (first solo, later with his co-host "Swag") back in 2009-2010 before he blew up on YouTube if you have never listened to it. They talk about new and old games and news.
It was fun to listen to this time capsule of a podcast, especially from today's PoV (seeing what predictions came true, what got worse\better). I also often looked up the more obscure titles TB mentioned.
Here's an archive which also includes 4 episodes of the predecessor ("TBs show about video games"): https://archive.org/details/gaming-the-system-s-1-e-30

That being 50-60 years from now, when they are old and wrinkly, they'll be able to go back and watch hundreds of videos of their parents in their prime. Age does a number on a persons memory, but they'll always be able to see their parents as they were, even long after they are gone, and i don't know about ya'll but that does make me feel happy inside.

Case point; my reupload of his Terraria series (without intro/outros) -> https://www.reddit.com/r/Cynicalbrit/comments/1qcumf0/for_those_interested_i_compacted_the_whole_tb/ ... has been copyright striked down by a "Totalbiscuit, the Cynical Brit" at totalbiscuit@gmail. Clearly TB passed away, but I'm wondering if this used to be his genuine email? So then it could be an automatic youtube thing that triggered because it recognized the content?
Or if its genuine it could be Genna who after all these years prefers to copyright strike an unmonetized video that was clearly crediting TB's work, instead of.. you know sending me a message and I wouldve removed/made it private instantly.
Btw, TB had no problem with people uploading his stuff as long as it wasnt monetized and credited that it was from TB. See all the Totalbiscuit Stream channels. So overall its just weird. I'll see what I can do but these uploads were mostly for my enjoyment, so either ill make everything private or reupload it somewhere else.
This is why we cannot have nice things, I guess.

Edit: These videos were just copyright striked down by TB, hm lol
Case point I was recently again enjoying the Terraria videos, but especially also before going to bed or during studies. But since the videos have annoyingly loud rock outro music and theyre only like 20min long it was kind of interrupting, as every 20min the outro music would play and just prompted you to press "next video" all the time.
So I compacted everything and practically made the whole series synced into three long (10+ hours) videos. First plan was a single video but the filesize and duration went crazy long so I split it in three. Not everything is uploaded yet but this is the playlist, all credit to Totalbiscuit (RIP) and Jesse Cox ofcourse:
https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLOxmp3jQckmz1WIk1_DfFIOr3ejI-kcS3&si=RsuXreqNJMtjzIUH
Mods; if this is not allowed to be shared feel free to delete. I just figured I'd share for those like me who would love checking the series through this uninterrupted way.

E.g. links like these:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Terraria/comments/lv72w/totalbiscuit_and_jesse_cox_the_lost_episodes_of/
Those lost Terraria episodes where they shared at least the audio files? Ive been rewatching the series but those episodes arent available anywhere, and clearly TBs old website doesn't work anymore (thanks to a fan for at least saving the domain).
Anyway I also remembered that TB and Jesse shared their save file from Terraria to "the archives". Did that ever happen? Does anyone have those saves still? I know its been 14 years ago but who knows if someone backed up all this stuff.

As we all know, Totalbiscuit always had great interest in the indie side of this industry, both discussing ways to tackle and fix many of the problems the indie scene faced, and also giving exposure to many indie games over the course of his career.
With recent discussions around the GOTY and what constitutes an indie, I couldn't help but think of TB, and wonder what he would think about this topic in current times, perhaps even making a video discussing and trying to nail down some definition or group of ideas that can accurately label what an indie is.
Where do you all think he would fall? Closer to the idea of general independence from a publisher (but not necessarily no publisher) or closer to stricter rules around team size, budget, and things like publisher/self published?
