Decent Mexican food in Bristol?

Post image
185 Upvotes

Where can I get good, not overly expensive Mexican food in Bristol that is served in decent sized portions so that I’m not still hungry when I’ve finished the meal?

I can make a better chilli/burrito/taco etc than any Mexican meal I have ever had eating out and I’m not an especially good cook.

Anything that is quite tasty seems to be like 3 tacos for £10 kind of thing, so you need to spend £30+ to fill yourself up. (I’m not fat or have a huge appetite either, but I want to be full at the end of a meal)

Cheers babs x

Where To? Bar & Food Recommendations - Bradley Stoke/Stoke Gifford/etc

Hey all,

Due to some circumstance changes (landlord selling) my partner and I are having to move from Knowle up to Bradley Stoke.

Are there any decent local places up that way that folk would recommend when it comes to craft beers and local food places? (by that I mean bars/pubs or food places, not bars that do food). It's a very modern suburban development area, and being regular frequenters of a range of pubs (craft beers) and local food places around here up through Bedminster, Brislington, etc, we're looking for new alternatives on the entire opposite side of Bristol.

Cheers!

Why can't we have a food market that is open in the evening like London does?

Where To? Six Spanish Friends (50M) Visiting Bristol. Looking for Food, Nightlife & Local Tips!

Hi everyone,

We’re a group of six lifelong (male) friends visiting Bristol for a long weekend on March 20th.

We’re from Andalusia, Spain, and we’re in our 50s. We enjoy nightlife, but we’re also very interested in getting to know the city—its history, its character, and its people.

We’d really appreciate any recommendations on how to make the most of our time there: where to eat, where to drink, where to go out dancing, what to visit, and any other local tips you think are worth sharing.

Many thanks in advance for your help!

Honestly not sure where else to turn.

I’ve found myself in very tricky situation this month so if anyone is aware any charities or local organisations who can support people please do let me know.

Hope this post is allowed, it’s not a money grab Im not here for donations.

Thank you.

Edit: I wanted to follow-up and say how incredible this community has been. Last night I wasn’t sure if anyone would even reply, however, the community has come through and continues to come through with suggestions, ideas, offering to talk etc.

People’s kindness has been on full display and given me rekindled hope in myself as a young person who is struggling. Thank you everyone for the comments, the community, and the lack of judgement. Truly.

Where To? Where to give away food in Bristol

I’ve ended up with quite a lot of fresh food and I really don’t want it to go to waste. Does anyone know where in Bristol I can donate it, or if there’s a local centre, food bank, or community group that accepts fresh food? Thanks in advance for any help!

Where To? Pub Food in the Centre

Hi gang, was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for casualish pub food near to Temple Meads (<30 minute walk). Needs to be somewhere that will cater to a big hungry sweaty bloke post bike ride. Massive pie ultra but anything hyperglycemia-inducing would be fantastic. Cheers team.

Where To? Food hamper/delivery recommendations?

A friend has recently had a newborn baby and want to get delivered a selection of food treats. Years ago I had something similar sent to me when we had our child but googling I can't seem to find any local companies that do this.

Only one I can think of is bristolkitchn but that's frozen meals.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Where To? Best food in and around Gloucester Road?

My partner and me are having our first date night in Feb since our daughter was born almost 18 months ago. We will go on to the Galli after for some music. We loved Saigon Kitchen when I was pregnant, tempted to go back there, but happy to try something new. Plenty of vegan options, but not strictly a vegan place. Open to any cuisines, want genuine good reliable food recs.

Would love to try Fi Real but can't really bring myself to go in there... my grandad owned the building for 40 years, and I grew up helping him out in the shop... lots of memories there and feels odd to go in for some reason.

Where To? Indoor spots to eat own food

I'm just starting an online course and would love a space where I can eat my own food and bring my own drinks and study. I don't work well at home and can't afford cafe prices every time I want to do so. Looking for somewhere indoors too :)

edit: somewhere in the centre, bedminster, knowle, whichurch, brislington areas and surrounding

Where To? Healthiest eatout/takeout food in Bristol? (for when I just can't face cooking at home)

EDIT: thanks to everyone who took time to comment. I now have a fantastic list to try out over the coming months. And even come away with more information on seed oils, their benefits and downsides. Like everything in life, its all about balance :)

I think this subject is quite subjective, many people have different views on what constitutes good food.

I think we can all agree Donuts, MacDonalds, and your general late night fried chicken while all extremely tasty are in the bad category. Maybe salads, omelettes, grilled fish etc may be in the good category.

Recently there has been lots of talk about seed oil (sunflower, rape, corn, palm) being so bad, so I am trying to avoid these while cooking at home. using in stead butter. ghee and coconut (oils that harden in the fridge)

So who makes the most healthy eating out/Take out food in Bristol, for those times I get tired of cooking.

also interested in hearing thoughts on this whole seedoil bad subject if you want to chuckin your tuppence.

Babble Better Food Painfully Slow

Whilst I try my best to avoid the shop known in our household as Better Get a Mortgage, occasionally one needs a pint of milk when shops are closing.

There's a myriad of things that make me detest the place, from the general smugness to the insane prices. However, the thing which winds me up the most is how painfully slow they are to serve people.

Every single time I go in there are several employees milling about and only ever one or two people on the tills. Then it's as if the people working on the tills have been instructed to go as slow as humanely possible; I've had faster MOTs than it takes them to serve the average customer. They'll then just chat to people like it's a sunday afternoon in ther park with no desire to serve whoever is next in line.

To top it off their tills seem slow too, with a big lag from when the card terminal says payment accepted to when their till tells them it's been processed, resulting in me being stopped more than once just wanting to get out of the place.

I've only ever visited the St Werburghs branch so don't know how this compares to others?
