Made this comment somewhere else:

Look at how agency is portrayed; it’s one of the largest agencies but more importantly it seems to well run and efficient. Also he was very calculating when he fought that nomu at the end of last season. He was constantly analyzing his opponent for weaknesses and outsmarted the opponent for a win (with a ton of help from hawks of course). Heck even his marriage was more based on the calculation of who would provide the best chance for the strongest offspring. So I would say his character is very competent who is mentally adept, methodical, and quick thinking and is also a god awful father. Him breaking the code of a highlighted book with a couple winks and nods is not out of character to me.

I meant that yes he is smart but detective skills are something else. Not everyone can do it. He really deserves to be no. 1 after almight for sure.

Analytical can go very impersonal and using if you obsess in it. As Endeavor displayed.

If you throw in emotions to Analytically study you could possibly temper that. Data on Star Trek NG.

Yeah I think that they are related but I know what you mean it really is how skeptical of a person is he and would he notice something was off and especially with his son getting in town that day? I totally would have bought him overlooking it, especially for an episode or two.
