I think Isamaya really deserves a lot of credit for his writing. Even though we are in this fantasy world, the real moments are too real, as last episode was a good example of that. I always imagined my last moments, if I got to realize it like Malowe did, would perhaps be the same. I would probably think of the people I love and wonder what they had for dinner and then think to myself that must be delicious. Not much different from Marlowe, I imagine, although I hope I never encounter anything like that ever, but what human emotions Isamaya captured in that moment (beautifully animated by WIT might I add) were very real and understandable.

Exactly, it's very realistic and grounded in regards to the emotional & psychological moments of these characters.

AoT was my first anime (aside from stuff like Pokemon but I don't count that), and also the first anime to make me cry. I bawled like a bitch with Petra because I honestly loved her character (and all of Levi Squad).

Then I cried even harder at the next episode where Petra's father meets with Levi on his way back and says he wants Levi to marry Petra.
