If so, bless that man's soul and may he gets a pay raise

Well, the studio won't be doing Season 4, so... I guess he's done, lol

UPD: Some clarification, just in case: studio WIT won't be doing S4. I'm not saying there won't be S4 at all.

He is a freelancer. Fun fact he also did one of the cuts from Genos vs Sitama fight so he can probably do more scenes if the other studio hires him.

who is this man? where did he come from? how did he get this power?!

11

u/Ymir24 May 27 '19

He claims that his superhuman strength derives from his workout of 100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, 100 squats, and a 10k-run...

EVERY

SINGLE

DAY!!!

Good

u/Mundology May 26 '19

He also did key frames for the final fight in Boruto: Naruto the Movie. Here's the scene. Don't click if you haven't watched it.

u/wingzero00 https://myanimelist.net/profile/Wingzerococ May 27 '19

That was insane, even more insane is that the TV episode managed the impossible task of being able to top it.

7

u/shinigang May 26 '19

Damn with that portfolio his next gigs will be more super (pay wise).

34

u/chandlerbong12 https://anilist.co/user/Chandlerbong May 26 '19

No, that's not it works in the anime industry.

An animator is not paid more based on how complex his cut are but how high his position is. For eg in this episode he was credited as Action animation director so he was likely paid more than an average key animator.

10

u/shinigang May 26 '19

Ah. That’s too bad then. Now I wish they could at least recognize these folks better.

14

u/KoHorizon May 26 '19

Now I wish they could at least recognize these folks better.

To be honest the more complex/insane someone animate, the more they are hired in high position, so they are recognized enough.

2

u/Ry-O-Ken May 27 '19

Well aside from that, if we’re talking about just key animators, they get paid per cut as freelancers The scene that Imai did had about 29 cuts so he’ll get paid for that + the pay from his role as Action Animation director for the episode

4

u/[deleted] May 26 '19

one of the cuts

He did 90% of the fight.

Oh great... after all One-Punch Man switched studios as well and the new season is doing just great... most fans probably didn't even notice the difference... /s

Just like Log Horizon, the quality definitely went up when it switched studios.

I seriously don't understand how people can still say that it's just the people who work on the show that matter. Of course, the same person can work for multiple studios at different times, but look at the average madhouse, ufotable, bones anime and then look at the average studio deen, JC staff anime. They very clearly have different standards...

Wait really? Why?

>For starters, let me say that I’m confident that Attack on Titan’s anime will continue. There’s no denying that the series is past its popularity peak both domestically and internationally, but it still is a huge property. The kind of outrageously big anime that, whether directly or indirectly, makes enough money to justify any troublesome production. Trying not to leave cash on the table is the one thing you can trust producers to be motivated about, so nothing other than gross incompetence could stop them at this point. If you’re looking forward to more Attack on Titan anime, I wouldn’t fret too much.

The current studio will be dropping AoT pretty much guaranteed. But it's such a huge anime in popularity that it is near impossible another studio will not take it. If anything, I'd say expect season 4 to be longer than a year from now. But will it come? Definitely

Also:

>This might have started to sound like doomsaying, but believe me when I say that’s not the case. Attack on Titan is undeniably a demanding project, but WIT is a relatively small studio with poor management at the best of times and they still managed to put it together. If I had to blind guess who’ll take over, other than the easy choice of Production IG, I might go with a larger and reckless studio like MAPPA. And I genuinely believe they could put together a different team with exceptional qualities of their own to offer a new take on the series. It’s also possible that a company with no investment in quality whatsoever could pick it up just to have a huge property in their hands, but no point in being pessimistic when everything’s up in the air.

EDIT: Sorry im dumb, you said the studio wont be doign season 4 thats correct. Id still think you should correct your comment to say another studio probably will. People are interpreting it like there wont be a s4 from the replies.

:D

okay, fixed, just in case.

This article is so boring, filling the page with so much useless commentaries. I just want the What? Why? and When?

Thanks for the link anyways.

sakugabooru is all about details. Just give a look at their 'production notes' posts: https://blog.sakugabooru.com/2019/05/22/sarazanmai-production-notes-03-06/

If you want just a short unswer - I'd recommed using twitter, I guess.

Honestly i loved the whole thing, the more i learn about the anime industry the better.

9

u/[deleted] May 26 '19

What do you mean, Wit isn't going to animate a potential season 4?

5

u/konart May 27 '19

1

u/[deleted] May 27 '19

Ah shit, that's a massive mood killer.

Studios are changing left right and center these days ..

6

u/[deleted] May 27 '19

It'll probably just go to Production I.G which is WITs parent company so things may be fine.

3

u/Starossi May 28 '19

They are misinterpreting the article, dont believe the doom saying. They say themselves in that article its such a massive franchise at this point its basically free money that some studio will grab. Most likely IG or MAPPA

6

u/RubyMHA May 26 '19

what do you mean? who'll be doing season 4?

11

u/AH_BareGarrett https://myanimelist.net/profile/baregarrett May 26 '19

Big rumor going that WIT studios is done after this season, so it'll likely go to another studio.

14

u/Plumorchid https://myanimelist.net/profile/Plumorchid May 27 '19

We just can’t have nice things.

5

u/Konko_ May 27 '19

The quality will definitely degrade imo. I'm imagine a Tokyo ghoul re and opm s2 again 😓

4

u/exeia https://myanimelist.net/profile/exeia May 27 '19

no please anything but the tragedy of tokyo ghoul, especially who ever did S3 can stay the fuck away

1

u/Konko_ May 27 '19

Why doesn't WIT wanna continue. Its massive money for them amirite?

4

u/Zedeknir May 27 '19

They're contracted to do it but they're not getting any money from it other than the minimum pay to be contracted. the money goes to the production comitee (the ones that employed WIT)

2

u/daskrip Jun 05 '19

First I'm hearing of that. That's sad news but they've done such a great job. Feels the same as with the Endgame directors quitting Marvel.

Is there news of what is happening with season 4? Will the show be in good hands? This is the most important anime this generation and I definitely don't want a One Punch Man situation.

2

u/konart Jun 05 '19

Too soon to ask I'm afraid. I doubt we will be hearing any big news before 2021.

1

u/daskrip Jun 06 '19

Wait what. Why that long?

1

u/konart Jun 06 '19 edited Jun 06 '19

Long?

S1 - April 2013 (25 episodes)

S2 - April 2017 (12 episodes)

S3P1 - July 2018 (12 episodes)

S3P2 - April 2019 (10 episodes)

2021 - is my optimistic forecast for news. I doubt we'll see an actual anime before 2022

1

u/daskrip Jun 06 '19

Yeah I mean take the first big gap out of it, and it's been a year each time for not just news but actual airing.

1

u/konart Jun 06 '19

By the time S2 finished - manga had Part 1 done - easier to plan your work at the very least.

Right now Part 2 has barely any material for 1 cour + they will have to deal with the studio change.

2

u/[deleted] May 26 '19

It's confirmed or still a rumor?

1

u/konart May 27 '19

2

u/[deleted] May 27 '19

Sad day, at least they lasted until this arc.

2

u/ultrawazer May 26 '19

Wont be doing s4 where did you read about that ?

1

u/konart May 27 '19

There were a good amount of rumors that were confirmed just recently https://blog.sakugabooru.com/2019/05/19/attack-on-titan-at-its-wits-end/

1

u/Ownsin https://myanimelist.net/profile/Ownsin Jun 10 '19

Why would studio Wit not do a season 4? could you clarify, please?

1

u/icedragon258 https://myanimelist.net/profile/Meihern1 May 26 '19

what do you mean no season 4 ?

1

u/konart May 27 '19

1

u/spyder616 May 27 '19

We'll have a bigger problem if season 4 would be made by JC Staff lol

1

u/konart May 27 '19

I'm rooting for ufotable

1

u/icedragon258 https://myanimelist.net/profile/Meihern1 May 27 '19

That's too bad, if another studio takes over i doubt they could be on par when it comes to the animation.

1

u/konart May 27 '19

Trigger, ufotable, KyoAni all can do great animations. Just to name a few.

Trigger and KyoAni are out of the question though. Not their type of the show.

1

u/icedragon258 https://myanimelist.net/profile/Meihern1 May 27 '19

I feel like it's not ufotable's kind of show either, hopefully madhouse takes over, one can dream i guess

1

u/konart May 29 '19

madhouse

Doubt it, considering all the recent news about overwork and hospitalization of the employee.
