This was everything I've ever wanted to see, I waited so long to see this animated... Levi vs the Beast Titan, Armin "BALLS OF STEEL" Arlert... AND IT WAS AMAZING, GOD BLESS STUDIO WIT

11/10 r/anime's highest rated thread of all time incoming

DEFINITELY AOTY CAN'T STOP THE HYPE TRAIN CHOO CHOO

I guess I'm getting old..

I've always been hyped watching AOT episodes.. And the 1st half for this episode was hype as hell as well.. But I just couldn't stop crying once Armin said he'll never get to see the ocean..

This episode was a lot heavier for me than any other episode of AOT for me.. I never realized how fond I was of Armin...

Edit - Fuck! Season 3 started with Eren alone near the sea, didn't it?! Damn It!

u/gamesager May 26 '19

When Erin was listening to Armin tell him he would back down since he promised to see the ocean, and Erin knew what was really happening. That part hit me emotionally. Only like 3 shows have ever made me feel that way for a character.

u/tanaka-taro May 26 '19

It shows Eren's maturity not to question or hint his hesitation about Armin's possible death too

24

u/Konko_ May 27 '19

He didn't even cry when he saw Armins body...

58

u/tanaka-taro May 27 '19

State of shock does that to some people.

5

u/Sean-Benn_Must-die May 27 '19

More than faith i thinkhe was lying to himself, deep down he knew that armin was lying but he wanted to believe he wouldn’t sacrifice himself.

1

u/[deleted] May 27 '19

Could you name them?

3

u/gamesager May 27 '19

I think the first was steins gate but I cant remember which part. And Hunter x Hunter when Kilua fought Rammot, and cried because he thought he couldn't be Gons friend any more.

About Steins Gate, I have a feeling it might be the part spoilers

This episode made me want to re-watch the entire series. I've already rewatched a few scenes multiple times like the first Reiner/Bertholdt transformation and the SUSUME scene but there's so many more scenes that have been forgotten.

25

u/[deleted] May 26 '19

Especially considering Season 1 was like 6 fucking years ago!!! I barely even remember what happened in Season 1 anymore!!

8

u/Mekazuaquaness May 27 '19

I convince my friend to watch season 1 back in like 2014 and now I’m trying to convince him to continue watching as he did enjoy the season a lot. But damn it’s impossible to describe how good attack on titan is to the point where it’s so good that most other shows are mediocre in comparison and that it should be seen at least once in your life

4

u/The-Vaping-Griffin May 26 '19

I’ve been rewatching it before getting to part 2.

19

u/QueenCityCartel May 26 '19

He's hard not to love and he's leaving a big hole in the team. Tactician extraordinaire!

17

u/[deleted] May 26 '19

This guy aint even ready for the next few episodes, this season is fuckin bonkers man

7

u/[deleted] May 26 '19

I hate myself for being so impatient and finding out some spoilers. I knew what was coming this episode so Aramin and Erwin's death didn't come as a surprise to me and I also know what'll happen next... Aaaahhh if only they didn't take so long between each season I would have been more patient!! :(

7

u/tanaka-taro May 26 '19

There is a reason why he will always be my most favorite character in the whole series and this is one of them

5

u/Omahunek May 27 '19

Yeah, I'm here with you. Everyone's talking about Levi or the Colossal Titan going down and I'm just weeping for my boy Armin T_T

3

u/Redditer51 May 27 '19

Even with all the shocking deaths in this series, I never in a million years expected Armin to die. I'm still kinda processing it.

6

u/Funny_witty_username May 27 '19

Armin wasn't even that high on the list for me. Good character, but not really a favorite, or so I thought.

Now he's gone and I'm just wonder "Why am I alive? Does the sadness ever go away?"

2

u/[deleted] May 31 '19

Oh damn, I forgot about that scene, no idea what it meant in the beginning and now it all makes sense. The directing for this anime is on-point, thanks for reminding me that.

-29

u/JDGWI May 27 '19

Who cries over this? Get a life

11

u/chrisychris- May 27 '19

No, you learn some empathy.

-18

u/JDGWI May 27 '19

Nah its incredibly weird

11

u/L33TF0X https://myanimelist.net/profile/L33TF0X May 27 '19

Emotions are a thing

-13

u/JDGWI May 27 '19

I know but for an anime its plain weird

8

u/L33TF0X https://myanimelist.net/profile/L33TF0X May 27 '19

nah

6

u/DarkBlaze99 https://myanimelist.net/profile/DarkBlaze99 May 27 '19

Is it okay to cry in movies, Mr. guy who decides when to cry?

-1

u/JDGWI May 29 '19

Weirdo

78

u/Guerreroliz May 26 '19

I don't see it now with the thread going up so early + it coming out later tonight :(. What a mess this is.

But the episode was insane.

19

u/bountygiver May 26 '19

We just need to make sure the thread stay on top when the Europeans watch it.

22

u/BrisingrSenpai May 26 '19

French people already watched it on wakanim, lol

9

u/Florac May 26 '19

Good luck with it coming out when all europeans are sleeping...so they're gonna watch it at earliest monday morning.

u/Magnarose14 May 26 '19

11/10 r/anime's highest rated thread of all time incoming

It was unreal, but I doubt it due to the whole shitshow with the episode timing release change for tonight. :/

32

u/H4wx May 26 '19

This is some real fucking bad timing with the time change bullshit :/

16

u/LegitPancak3 https://myanimelist.net/profile/LegitPancake May 27 '19

I’m 8 hours late since I waited for official subs, but I’m upvoting this thread in appreciation for this amazing episode as well!

4

u/Deathrow22 May 27 '19

Yeah i already upvoted it after the thread was posted even tho i just watched it 1 hour ago

6

u/lethalmc May 26 '19

It managed to rise up when the memes attacked and it will continue to rise up to do so. Although discussions will kind of favor towards early watchers tho

28

u/DaREY297 https://myanimelist.net/profile/Marin_Karin May 26 '19

I can't believe the highest thread of all time right now will only last 2 months in charge after this, what an insane year this has been.

both threads deserve them

43

u/Zedeknir May 26 '19

AoT is a bigger series in general, that's natural

6

u/BBQSenpai May 26 '19

what is the highest one for now ?

16

u/CosmicCrimsonX2 May 26 '19

Kaguya-sama finale with 14.4K

4

u/BBQSenpai May 26 '19

oh ? How is it even rated ? I thought it was with the 1/10 scale but i guess not if you says 14.4K ^ Is it just the number of people who voted ?

18

u/CosmicCrimsonX2 May 26 '19

Yup 14.4K people upvoted that

16

u/DaREY297 https://myanimelist.net/profile/Marin_Karin May 26 '19

Don't forget the gilds it got

It broke a Reddit record of most platinums in a single thread.

I don't know if it still holds it.

30

u/Zedeknir May 26 '19

I mean Kaguya-sama fans are financed by the Shinomiya conglomerate no wonder the post got fucking rich

8

u/DaREY297 https://myanimelist.net/profile/Marin_Karin May 26 '19

You cannot beat the Shinomiya group, all attempts are futile!

17

u/Credar May 26 '19

Idk abour highest rated thread. Unfortunately the episode isn't out on more legal platforms for another 6ish hours and having the thread go up now ruins the chances.

Dangit bot!!

Yeah, bless Wakanim !

6

u/flybypost May 26 '19

Armin "BALLS OF STEEL" Arlert

That one was really bad for me, right before this episode I watched this and… it led to some really strange intrusive thoughts while watching Armin.

5

u/[deleted] May 26 '19

My god, this was so fucking good

Better than all I would ever hope for as a manga reader

AJSFANFNSD I FUCKING LOVE THIS ANIME

5

u/xRyozuo May 27 '19

At least this fills the GoT void. AoT gets better each season

4

u/NiksBrotha May 26 '19 edited May 26 '19

I honestly hoped for a minute that they'd play this soundtrack just because I listened to it so many times and it seems to fit well IMO. https://youtu.be/mN0p84xpFB8?t=244 The manga "anime" video with the song. Think the song is also by Sawano who does the music for AOT but the song was from a different show/movie. It fit so well.

The OST they used here seems to be some sort of version played from the No Regrets OVA or at least sounds really close to something from it. It was a GREAT scene nonetheless and I am so fucking happy it was finally animated and that they added on to it with those fucking death by a thousand cuts.

Still sad a little that they cut out the scene where Marlowe realizes he's about to die and contemplates what if he really meant when he said he'll be ready to give up his life for the cause. Time constraints and all so makes sense for them to do it. Just a few lines.

4

u/hvmanmonster May 27 '19

Bxtch this anime is one of the handful GOAT series EVER !!

3

u/Manutdforlife https://myanimelist.net/profile/Riazul_Hoque May 27 '19

Just wait till the basement reveal, AOT now is so hyped and right fully so but I am here thinking the story gets so much better after this.

2

u/swordmalice https://myanimelist.net/profile/swordmalice May 27 '19

It'll be a tragic loss if WIT ends up no longer doing future seasons of AOT.

3

u/Sharebear42019 May 26 '19

Nah Jojo part 5 aoty!

2

u/shinbreaker May 27 '19

DEFINITELY AOTY CAN'T STOP THE HYPE TRAIN CHOO CHOO

It's going to lose to whatever flavor of the month quirky anime is out at the time that no one remembers the next year.

-10

u/irvingtonkiller8 May 26 '19

AOTY? What happened to Mob? Or Kaguya? Or the upcoming Boku no Hero? Or any of the other shows that the sub loves to blow? Every show is AOTY confirmed

24

u/[deleted] May 26 '19

3

u/irvingtonkiller8 May 26 '19

Oh sorry the way he worded it was like it was everyone’s AOTY lol. Definitely not

10

u/Animeking1357 https://myanimelist.net/profile/TitanKyojin May 26 '19

It's almost like people have different opinions!

9

u/Zedeknir May 26 '19

This year will be really rough because Kaguya-Sama came in with a strong debut, Mob had incredible storytelling and total-masterpiece-godtier production in general(Music, action scenes, sentimental scenes, landscapes, a different break between comercials in all of the episodes), Shingeki is probably the one with one of the greatest planned-story tellings ever told with amazing key action scenes, gorgeous landscapes and clouds and an orgasmic soundtrack. Only one remaining is MHA and i'm pretty sure it will be awesome too. It will be an awesome year for anime in general.
