This show has a more American sensibility, like other than being in Japanese, this doesn't seem very anime-like at all. This sub has a lot of people who don't like Western animation or comedy in general

I think this one has really made me realize that I’m one of those people cause I love me some anime and I can do American cartoons but the blending of the two doesn’t mesh well for me. Especially with where this comic’s future content goes within the genre.

This is why I tend to avoid sub for anime like this. It doesn't work for me tonally.

IDK I agree with the person above saying (paraphrased) that office feels really Japanese for a supposedly American office. The disconnect is a bit off-putting even though I like both American and Japanese shows (including animation).

Wait, it's based on an American work? Where are the Japanese vibes in the office coming from then? Maybe it's been too long since I've been in an office environment... I feel like places I've worked would be more like yeah stuff happens what are you going to do and laugh about it later w/ the coffee spilling, for example. And it wasn't just the boss being an AH about it, the whole office was unsettled over it. I mean there are probably Japanese workplaces where it would be fine too, but they have the impression of caring more about appearances at work so I chalked it up to that...
