While true, Clevatess also seemed to be more open-minded from the start. Vordin seems like the type of Beast who wouldn't have been swayed by the efforts or motivations of his servants to begin with.

In fairness, Vordin's plan was only ever to use Drel to destroy the legend. He was using him as a puppet but otherwise most likely stayed in his homeland. He didn't need to actually know anything about the human world himself so he never needed to listen to Drel.

Meanwhile Clevatess actually went to the human world himself and thus needed to be told how it worked. Alicia is his main source of knowledge on that front, so he's always had reason to listen to her if only for more information.

And in the process, this inhuman monster is slowly learning about empathy.

He was clearly touched at Luna learning to walk just to follow after Clevy-chan, tears streaming down his little face as he stumbled. Klen recognized that strength of will to keep moving forward in this tiny infant, and respected the crotch goblin for it.

He also spoke up for Nell in the throne room.

This may have started as intellectual curiosity, but Klen has long since passed the point of no return and it'll be a while before he ever admits it.

It's not really empathy. He kind of has that from the start as I'm sure he does care about his own kind, it's just the disinterest + job getting in the way.

I feel like klen's whole drive was out of boredom and pure, morbid curiosity. The show made his demeanor come off that way to me at least.

His "openness" seems to come more from letting events play out to learn as much as he could. The bandits are a perfect example of "yeah, I could kill everyone and do what I want, but I'd know nothing more than before"

He's invested now and has turned that corner, but the beginning was no different than humans smashing an ant hill.

He was also bounded to his role to protect his territory from human invasion. The idea humans could be more troublesome later on because of Alicia got him to pay attention. Luna was what got his curiosity going and was intending to get his answer about humanity before he wipes them out. Now that he knows his role doesn't hold any meaning there's no need to do the whole wipe out humanity thing. What drives him instead of curiosity and precaution.

It was vaguely mentioned but I think that might have to do with Clevatess being the "youngest" of the Dark Beast Lords, only being a thousand years old and unaware of history and the world while the other rulers seem to be old enough to remember the ancient humans and legends. Clevatess also doesnt have strong dark beast servants like the others which belies his relative inexperience. I wonder if clevatess' rise to power might not have been due to something happening to his predecessor through the ancient humans
