If Alicia isn't the best girl this season then she has to be top 3. Amazing character who showed her strength, smarts and heart which was enough to convince Clevatess not to give up on humanity, a feat I didn't think was possible.

This season ending means dark fantasy anime fans go back to starvation, at least until a hopeful seaason 2!

And it's not just empty or hypocrite bravery. At the start it does feel like that, but she really proves herself well

I was a little worried about how her heroine credentials might have suffered in the beginning after the "get yer tits out!" moment. I'm glad they didn't linger on that vibe and it was a genuine cross-species communication issue.

She's a real one, I'm glad she got the proper hero treatment.

The fact that her bra held on for dear life despite being cut through this episode and wasn't even emphasised showed that, apart from a few interesting shots (which I'm not complaining about), this show really wasn't interested in sexualising her.

I like it. As much as I like my fanservice, I also like when an anime doesn't indulge in it.

It almost made those few shots you talked about more jarring. I mean, the shot itself was hot, but it still made me "wtf" because I was so unused to the show being like that in any way, shape, or form. (Pun not intended)

It feels like a weird shot, but not full fanservice tbh. It more like the studio thought it would be funny.

There is something freeing to let her be inelegant, messy and flail about half naked falling to her death, she's won, what she looks like doesn't matter.

Yes, great point. It's a much more realistic "I'm fighting for my life here who cares what I fucking look like or what I'm wearing" than a show that stops to focus on the embarrassment every single time.

You can clearly see her getting messier as the series goes on, but ironically she keeps getting more admirable

Do away with the “Champion” of the legend, Alicia is the champion of sheer fucking willpower

Yeah, fanservice is something you need to either indulge in consistently or not at all, or the times when you do indulge in it will stick out in a bad way. There is no half-assing it. You either full-ass it or no-ass it.

Yeah, Alicia was a great character (definitely one of the best this season), and her relationship with Klen/Clevatess was so good.

I hope we finally get a second season so we can see her and Klen's further adventures. That post-credits scene with her and Klen in today's episode made me want it even more xD

Though, to be honest, it isn't a surprise to me because I already saw leaks yesterday on X that a second season is already in production, but I'm glad that there's an official announcement.

Most likely Clenn’s true involvement is being kept as a state secret. Disguising her as a Hidenean courtier helps deter any unwanted questions and makes it easier for her to serve as an undercover bodyguard to young king Luna.

Very hard to compete with Marin, Mai, and Nazuna.

If new shows, there are a few powerhouses as well with Kaoruko, I'm a big fan of Monica from Silent Witch too.

Number 1 this season is VERY close between Nazuna and Alicia for me. Will have to wait for the last episode of Call of the Night though.

I mean, Id give the "convince Clevatess to not give up on humanity" award to Luna's nurse; she convinced him to take the baby and give humanity a chance.

But yeah, Alicia is definitely best heroine of the season for me.

Personal opinion: I’ll admit I forgot to check what I was watching on YouTube when making my list, so I completely slipped on Watanare and Milky Subway.

That said, I do like Sena Ajisai, but not more than anyone I already listed. Despite the length of the list, I was trying to be selective, which is why I skipped over the women of The Rising of the Shield Hero and Grand Blue Dreaming.

Renako Aomori on the other hand isn’t a character I particularly like. The socially anxious female protagonist can thrive in any genre (see Monica Everett) EXCEPT romance and harem. In those two genres, this type of MC rubs me the wrong way in the same way the black-haired blank slate male protagonist does to most everyone else when it comes to the same two genres.

Fair. I included Renako because she and Ajisai are like 2 sides of the same coin. But I must admit I do like Ajisai more.
