I noticed Sera pronounced curry the same way as Ryo. It looks like she was the other person to be isekaid to this world.

Or maybe, as an elf, she met the other person centuries ago and learned how to pronounce it properly from them. We don't know how long elves live in this world nor how old Sera herself is... but it's likely the dish was brought into this world by the other Isekai'ed person. Over the years, local phonetics changed how to pronounce the foreign word slightly/general drift that happens with language over time...

But for long-lived races, these effects would be much less pronounced. When single generations can be 100+ years, generational change happens at much slower pace.

It's possible but given the show's quality I'd be surprised if that was the case. The plot looks so simple and linear, other than those soldiers/guards being incinerated.

The anime is really skipping shit though, he's probably as old as her, the anime for some reason skipped explaining exactly how long he'd been training for, he's ancient by most people in this worlds standards, there's world building involved but the anime really is fast tracking everything, even as a manga reader the amount of time he spent in the library is exhausting

The anime makes it weirder by making him interact with everyone as if they are older than him, there's nobody older than him except some long lived species

Not explicitly told, but you get some hints and I had a feeling from those that he had been there for a good while before running into Abel.

First when he's reincarnated, we see a very young Abel and when next they meet, he's in his twenties.

Then there's his clothes, it takes quite a while to use clothes to the point where they fall apart, especially if they're of good quality.

And then there's when Sera and Ryo meets for a second time and they talk about their love for books, where he says that it's been a long time and felt nostalgic, to where she responds that he makes it sound like it's been decades, he laughs nervously and changes the subject, so you do get hints throughout.

Thanks for the info. Perhaps I should pick up the novels after this, 'cause I hear it's of a higher quality than what we're getting in the anime.

I like that theory, but both the waitress from episode 3 and the restaurant owner from this episode pronounced it the same way as Ryo and Sera.

Given how this seems to be a plot point (otherwise Abel wouldn't have brought it up), I don't think the voice director would overlook this detail for the NPCs.

At this point I think the isekai'ed person is an English speaker (hence their pronunciation), and Abel is the one who met the other isekai'ed person, but what are the chances that Abel met both of them? Also, perhaps like you said, local phonetics changed the pronunciation to be similar to the Japanese pronunciation for the local population, but somehow (perhaps through frequent contact with the isekai'ed person) Abel maintains the unique pronunciation.

I thought that at first too, but then the proprietress also pronounced it that way... maybe everyone but Abel is isekaid. lol

Or maybe Abel just misheard it once, and has been pronouncing it wrong ever since. Or maybe he's just a bit special.

When you think you're saying something correctly for years, get in an argument over it in your 30s, drop the "I went to college I'm not an idiot", 5 seconds of google searching later and you're kneeling in defeat.

LOL YEAH! NGL, my immersive experience was a bit broken due to this if it's really a slip up.

I read some commenters complaining on why not more people getting awed by Ryo's awesomeness and I don't have problem with that scene. However, people pronouncing fantasy world curry wrongly?? That's a major turn off.

Since other aspect in this anime is very great, I'm just going to ignore this though lol.

I'm not convinced, I think it's more likely that she just has a closer connection to the former isekai being an elf.

Also... There was still talk of a weird fire mage who sounded like another isekai lady right?
