THANK YOU FOR NOT HAVING THE ENTIRE EPISODE BE A FLASHBACK OF HOW HE GOT THERE. MUCH APPRECIATED.

The short flashback was hilarious though. I thought Ryu built a wagon for himself but it was for her

"We can talk along the way"

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA"

Was definitely not expecting that ice cart. That's surely the wrong way of using water magic for fast travel. Ryo probably didn't see how Iceman or Frozone does it when he was still in our world.

I thought he was going to create ice paths on the road like how he practiced before and also ride in the wagon.

That he just started running made me laugh out loud.

Yeah I thought "Oh cool a railcart...Wtf lmaooo"

I came to this thread because all the people saying how drawn out this episode was gonna be and I wanted to see the relief they'd all feel lol

same here. i was definitely laughing in the comments last week.

Same thing happened with Kaiju no. 8 earlier this season, and none of those people came back to admit they overreacted either. Some pivoted to acting like it was still fair criticism somehow too.

All that build up and it was still just a single minute of an anticlimactic battle.

The fight itself was also super short

13

u/Ghostkill221 Aug 30 '25

Yeah, I was mildly saddened by that, but I think they made up for that a bit by also having another short swordsmanship duel later on. It's not as much that they skimped on animation, it's just that ryo and the demon prince aren't on a level where he can actually show off moves.

Also, they showed that ryo was ALSO dissapointed in how fast the fight was over, so that made it a lot more palpable. It was really funny to see the elf's disposition change so much, she must have been bored out of her mind with sparring with people so far under her she couldn't ever go all out.

That was so refreshing!

Boom here's the lad, > here's how he got there, > now he's here, > cue intro.

38

u/seriousbusines Aug 28 '25

Then 20 seconds later its over and we are back to random slice of life nonsense.

65

u/Dolomite808 Aug 28 '25

That's the best part of this show, imo.

u/rickamore Aug 29 '25

Anti-climatic but honestly back to what we've been missing for a couple episodes now.

39

u/machopsychologist Aug 28 '25

TBF I THINK THE FLASHBACK WAS STILL LONGER THAN THE FIGHT ITSELF. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER!

That just shows how weak the demon prince is compared to Ryo.

If the elf is stronger than Ryo in swordplay, it also means she could fare well against the demon lord (though she might not be able to counter the regen aspect)

11

u/frand__ Aug 29 '25

Sera can definitely use some like tornado air slash spell

Honestly Ibknew e was gonna overpower the demon prince but I thought he would've toyed with it for a second or stuggled a single bit but nope, insta kill. I thought Ryo was like 100 to 1000 timea as strong as Abel but it might be closer to 50k-100k times

28

u/raknor88 Aug 29 '25

And it was so true to his character on HOW he got there. Just casually water drilling down 39 floors like it's no biggie.

5

u/Rushiaa Aug 30 '25

Talking about that...they cut off a really funny conversation from the novel of how ryo got there so fast hahaha it is not normal at all!! The dungeon floor seems to have a regenerative mechanism so normal people can just drill their way down like that

12

u/TurkeyPhat Aug 28 '25

in lieu of a flashback please enjoy this random cut to a bunch of characters you've never seen before

44

u/Satai4561 Aug 28 '25

I mean, that part seems at least kinda important for the overarching plot and it wasn't really dragged out.

2

u/TurkeyPhat Aug 28 '25

for sure, it just wasnt an unusual choice

some tropes (does this count as one?) are inevitable, you trade 1 for another lol

37

u/bigballstalin Aug 28 '25

you guys are complaining about every single thing in these threads, jesus christ

15

u/Nebresto Aug 28 '25

Maybe I'm just not reading the threads enough, but so far I'm having a great time with this show

-9

u/seriousbusines Aug 28 '25

The last three episodes have been drawn out to the point where if this entire episode was a flashback I was going to be done with the show. Not complaining about 'every single thing,' complaining about a very specific thing they keep doing over and over and over and over.

2

u/Boris-_-Badenov Aug 28 '25

they didn't even show the fight. she was going to start then they cut away... then her sword had already impaled him when they cut back.

guess the hero is going to get obsessed with Ryo being stronger, and probably turn bad

18

u/MagDorito Aug 28 '25

P sure that WAS the fight. She can teleport so I think she just kinda 🧍-> 🧍🗡️

2

u/rickamore Aug 29 '25

Considering the gulf in strength between her an a regular person. Yeah,

vanish "Heh, Nothing personnell kid"

was the whole fight.

9

u/LOTRfreak101 https://myanimelist.net/profile/LOTRfreak101 Aug 28 '25

no, i'm pretty sure that was the fight. i don't think they cut anything out

9

u/Proof_Loquat5494 Aug 28 '25

Pretty sure all they did was cut 2 seconds into the future. She said ryo was atleast ten thousand times stronger then him and she can fade teleport, im certain she just dashed forward and impaled him and instead of a 5-10 second fight scene to showcase that, they did a 2 second flashforward to showcase how miniscule of a threat he posed to her that it wasnt even worth the screen time.

2

u/reddit_reaper Aug 29 '25

Bro I swear so many shows wasting time on crap like that lately. The last year has got to be the worst when it comes to pacing and storytelling. Just so much wasted episodes filled with crap like that

1

u/frand__ Aug 29 '25

Honestly I would've liked if it was more than like literally 1:30 minutes

1

u/KnightKal Aug 29 '25

they didn't even had time for the little water magician reaction to his OP magic lol

or the mage from the party (that again missed all the water spells lol because she was unconscious)
