I guess it makes sense that Felix, considering his background, would gauge anything or anyone as a possible threat or something of interest...but sometimes a guys' just trying to make a fire so they can make a BBQ and celebrate Monica's successes! Maybe it's good for Felix to let himself unwind and hang out with Monica's friend group?

Felix probably has good reason to be a little suspect of people and everything going on around him, but sometimes you just need a fun and wholesome BBQ to eat meat. I love how Monica has a friend group she can celebrate with!

Thank goodness Neil had a brooch when Monica was doing her dance routine! She needed something to focus on.

Ryn returns! Don't say Louis doesn't do anything for Monica, he went to the trouble of giving her a new dress! And Lyn does the most amazing impression of him and laugh.

I honestly wouldn't mind being stalk...I mean, constantly running into Claudia myself.

Isabelle tried to get Monica ready to engage with a Villainess during a tea party, they were only an episode off of when it would happen as Caroline asks Monica out for tea. And Monica, striving to do her best in the student council, obliges.

Aaaaannnd they immediately waste no time "politely" suggesting that Monica clears Caroline of any wrongdoing with Cyril. And failing that, they obviously did something to Monica's tea. But Monica is a good student council treasure and has tasted worse! She can just drink it and everything will be fine! Right? Right?

I love Claudia just coming in and declaring Monica's been poisoned like she's tall and feminine Maomao. Claudia might be a sharp-tongued kuudere, but she really does mean well and care in her own way. Plus she pulls a good Maomao when circumstances prove necessary.

Honestly the poison is bad enough, but making Monica relive the memories of society turning on his father and his research, leaving her nothing but the numbers he left her as his legacy and an abusive uncle...it explains a lot about how Monica ended up the way she did. And then when she wakes up she's begging for forgiveness for failing. This poor, sweet, girl.

Isabelle didn't train Monica to prepare for teatime with a true Villainess noblewoman for nothing, though her PTSD from the loss of her father, abuse from her uncle, and trying to keep her fathers' legacy alive hits as hard as the noble girls poisoning her. Isabelle was just waiting for a chance to finally go after true Villainess' for the sake of her beloved Silent Witch.

Seems like Felix and Monica aren't so different in that they both feel like they failed and didn't measure up to peoples' expectations. Which means he takes this incident against her personally!

(Though I love Cyril gruffly but gently taking Monica back to the bed. He really is a sweetheart)!

Nobody takes this more personally than Isabelle though. Caroline thought she could get off scott free thanks to her fathers' influence, but she didn't reckon with the power of a TRUE Villainess, one that knows that, black sheep or otherwise, you don't mess with someone in their family. Not if you don't want to end up poisoned yourself, with your dress messed up like your entire life is going to be soon, and your entire family and homeland at possible risk all for YOUR foolish and insipid actions. Caroline's life is basically over now.

Isabelle has finally demonstrated to the entire school that she's a real Villainess not to be messed with...and neither is Monica. And after such a brilliant display, Isabelle has earned getting to sleep together with Monica while she recovers.

So Claudia is Cyril's teasing (half or step) sister. But why is Claudia so focused on Monica and isn't clear whether she likes or dislikes her? Because she thought Monica was making moves on her fiance! Her fiance who is frikkin' Neil! And Claudia feels so strongly about him that the moment he walks into the room her voice goes up a pitch, she's suddenly trying to paint herself and Monica as friends, and she makes it clear that she's head over heels in love with Neil. He may feel like he doesn't measure up to her, but Claudia is absolute in them being a couple. I honestly wouldn't mind hearing about the beginning of their romance either!

I can't believe Ryn was waiting for Monica in her room the entire time. I can't believe Monica's gotten herself poisoned from something that had nothing to do with protecting the prince.

Isabelle was just waiting for a chance to finally go after true Villainess' for the sake of her beloved Silent Witch.

Isabelle being a real villainess is quite scary given how powerful her family and how sly she does things. I wonder if that poison girl will ever survive after that level of humiliation

Her life as a noble girl is over.

Her marriage prospects is pretty much null. Maybe a local rich merchant who don't care about noble scandals as much as just being able to marry a noble.

And yeah that doesn't sound like a good marriage.

But living single as the lady that basically disgraced her family for the rest of her life also sounds horrible.

To be fair, it's (depending on how you look at it), an extreme act of generosity that she isn't imprisoned for attempted murder (or manslaughter since she wasn't actually intending to hurt Monica, just shame her.) We know that there are people very actively out for the prince's life and bringing medicine on campus and using it to poison another student is a very stupid way to make the wrong kind of people look closely at who you are and who you've been associated with.

Though I don't think the assassination attempts have been made public, now that I think about it. still super reckless though.

It isn't as generous as it is convenient.

The prep is a vassal of the Nortons, which means that if they are too heavy handed they will injure themselves. Effectively ruining her noble life and getting a trump card in future negotiations is a good enough punishment.

I would imagine imprisonment is would be a very rare punishment for a noble lady, maybe house arrest at most but that would be less damaging than what is going to happen to her now.

The prep is a vassal of the Nortons,

Sounds like that territory should go to someone more loyal to the Nortons then.

local rich merchant

I wonder how rich you had to be to marry a Count’s daughter back then.

Extremely in most cases I imagine, frankly they would probably be so rich that the only reason they weren't nobles themselves would be by choice.

But Caroline had disgraced herself so probably not that rich.

Likely a beating at least by female family member(s) then rush marriage to some low on totem poe ass hole noble offspring on the frontier or other remote area where she will be expected to not talk unless it requested and have tons of children.

Claudia might be a sharp-tongued kuudere, but she really does mean well and care in her own way. Plus she pulls a good Maomao when circumstances prove necessary.

Especially since noble woman not knowing which of there beauty products are poison is very much a theme in Apothecary Diaries too.

or knowing but using it anyway.

It was a theme in real life as well. People using arsenic to get whiter skin and such

u/Falsus Aug 15 '25

If Cloudia was correct that it was Belladona aka Deadly Nightshade, then it was actually used as cosmetics in the renaissance times for exactly the reason Caroline said, to enlarge the pupils.

I'd like to think Claudia would have slapped the taste out of Caroline's mouth if she was better friends with Monica.
