If I had a nickel for every cute British Blonde voiced by Sally Amaki in a romcom...I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot but it's fun that it happened twice!
The OP is really cute and fun, featuring Lily having the time of her life at the game center with her friends and of course Renji!
Our titular Game Center Girl is already hard at work winning a crane game and getting herself a chivalry Koala! But Bloody Hell! This Cruel Koala just doesn't want to behave! Luckily kindhearted and earnest Game Center worker Renji (Shoyo Chiba!) is nice enough to get her plushy for her...and accidentally turn it into a Valentine's gift. Next thing she knows she's thinking of him with Bishie sparkles and her mom is already teasing her about it in English. Girl is smitten!
Sure there's a language gap because Lily speaks English and Renji speaks Japanese and Engrish, but that doesn't get in the way of their flirting or from having a date in the Game Center together.
Jashin-chan!? What are you doing there!?
Poor Lily! If it's not vehicular manslaughter or losing at an Alice in Wonderland puzzle game, it's Renji misreading her desire to take a couple purikura for wanting to play Resident Evil. Though Renji acting so manly to protect her inspires her to put her game face on and go all hardcore Jill Valentine on all the zombies and kill a dragon with a Jackpot like she's Dante from Devil May Cry.
Lily finally restored her honor by winning at a crane game solo! All the better because she wanted to get a Chivalry Koala mug for Renji and give him a return Valentine gift...and also expressing her desire for him to be HER Valentine!
So Renji's got a little sister named Aoi! Can't wait for her to meet Lily.
Look at these two chasing each other around the Game Center! And having so much fun while doing it!
After realizing Lily's feelings and understanding how she misread her gift, Renji knows that the only thing he can do is clear it up and express how they can't be lovers...because they have to get to know each other better! And thus begins a cultural exchange diary as they learn from each other and develop their relationship AND language skills! Lily even declares she'll make Renji fall in love with her, which goes over his head, but that's okay!
The ED is really cute, turning it into a rhythm game! Very on-brand!
