You know this show really emphasize to me Shaft is back. Yes, Monogatari yes is brilliant as always. It's wonderful to see them doing it with other shows too.

With all the other CGDCT's airing this season, having this be a more dark comedy and also a bit of nod at toxic yuri was great. Interesting to see how both Satoko & Konoha grow from here. You can def see early on the effect that Satoko has on Konoha. Granted, Satoko very much has been in position for Konoha to take advantage of her. Though Satoko was the type that would keep returning to a toxic relationship, but as the season progressed it that she is a it mentally fucked up and maybe more than Konoha.

The show was a great master of show not tell. For example, the rankings of Konoha after Aoi disappears. We are never told about Konoha's past, but through how she is as a baby we can tell something happened to make her the way we see her in the present. Aided the fact after turning to a baby, she calls Satoko Mommy and on one hand, this is funny. I am led to believe that maybe Konoha had mommy issues maybe?

Loved this one. 9/10 for me.

I really appreciate how, outside of key fights in the first and last episodes, the only time we had a noticeable uptick in animation quality was the moment we had those classic "Yuri Allusion" scenes, focusing on hands, eye movements, and general body posture when Konoha and Sakoto were interacting and it was clear something more was going on beyond their words.

Something about those being the moments the animation team said "okay let's get to work" is very satisfying to me.

I also appreciate how the show doesn’t just allude to yuri, but actually features confirmed lesbian characters and a lesbian couple.

very true - it would have been easy enough to just tease it all out and be all bait-y about it, but the writers' approach is one I respect as it allows for the potential for further development in Konoha & Sakoto's relationship if there's a season 2, while confirming that it's absolutely something they'll show once it's appropriate for the characters.

I haven't read the manga but I've heard from others that the animation elevated it which is a nice change from how things usually go with adaptations.

A 10 for me, it's a silly fun show but it's so well executed. Hard to find a fault in it.

We are never told about Konoha's past, but through how she is as a baby we can tell something happened to make her the way we see her in the present.

I've grown to be a fan of writers meaningfully withholding information from viewers like this. Really reminds me of how we never see Senjougahara and Araragi kissing (and how we hardly see them together at all after they start dating) because those are private moments that shouldn't be shared with an audience

or example, the rankings of Konoha after Aoi disappears

We never actually found out what happened to her, did we?

I suppose another assassin killed her after Konoha declined? At the time I thought maybe she was just hidden away somewhere, but if that was the case it would surely have been followed up upon

The anime leaves it up to interpretation but as far as the original is concerned, they make it pretty clear [manga] Konoha went through with the deed

Can I get a chapter number for that info?

Not sure of the chapter number myself. I just saw a pic to the same section in similar discussions. [In the original], after Konoha receives the assassination request, it cuts to black and immediately jumps to the scene where Konoha and Satoko help Yoshida pass out the missing person fliers, you could argue that it’s still ambiguous, but the editor’s note says explicitly that the pair got the job done as usual.

Idk if the subs I watched with was right but in Satoko texts to Konoha there was a message that went "I saw someone who looked like you.".
