I'm enjoying the slow pace, but they are stretching it a bit with some of those still shots that linger for no reason.

I'm hoping there is some kind of compelling narrative and not just hot students lusting after the MC. It also seems most of the action pieces will focus more on technique rather than flashy powers which is a positive.

I can't say I really like the trope of the MC misunderstanding their own strength, but maybe he'll learn quick.

This is like 90% of the reason for me being here tbh

Still impressed with how seamless the 3d was used in the first episode fight. It was noticeable but they use it the right way.

I swear, I'm enjoying it for now but if he wins the duel and is just like "wow, I guess magic is a bad matchup against swords if even an average swordsman like me can beat the commander of the magic corps" then I'm just dropping it.

I probably won't drop it for that, but yeah it's getting tiring hearing his denseness/self doubting comments.

Yeah it's great, but it's always half a step away from going full "The Eminence in Shadow", and not in an ironic way.

I'm willing to give the show more than three episodes to overcome what is seemingly the MC's main character flaw.

If we're going by manga, the fights will get more and more technical, which makes it epic.

but they are stretching it a bit with some of those still shots that linger for no reason.

They're trying to eat up as much of the episode time as possible. That's why the episode also had so many unnecessary flashbacks OF THE SAME DAMN EPISODE (wtf was that all about, we literally just watched those scenes minutes ago, why the hell did we need flashbacks of those?!?) so they can take up time. That pretty much tells you all you need to know about the quality of this anime.

For real. A flashback from last week was, eh okay. But one from several minutes ago was wild.

I picked this up because of Nao Touyama. But the visual quality started to make me question whether this is worth watching.

The scantily outfits are starting to feel like a red herring.

"If the story is this interesting on its own, why embed generic anime girls with half-naked outfits?"

But like you said, there's no guarantee at an actual overarching plot here. Just cool looking sword techniques.

Yea, i'm not 100% feeling it myself. I'll probably give the show a few more episodes, but if it just continues the reunion tour/mc keeps downplaying how strong he is trope i'm probably going to check out tbh.

To people that have read the source, does it start to pick up quickly, or is the start a bit of a slow burn?
