Damn straight. They did this backstory more than justice; they elevated it. One of the parts I especially loved was instead of just cutting to different moments in a sequence as would be typical of a montage, they did this panning thing with the camera to different scenes.

That spin shot was amazing. That entire sequence was astoundingly well executed. I love how creative they are with their 'camera' work. I feel like this show is going to wind up being the inspiration for a lot of other people. I'm calling it now: DandaDan is going to be artistically influential.

The director is actually a huge movie buff and has notebooks of all of his favorite camera shots and angles from movies. This is his first anime, but it wreaks with cinema

Like One Punch Man Season1, this season is really slamdunk and very very well directed. I can even compare it against other live action tv series Ive watched this year. This is just so good I cant even write a coherent sentence hahahahuhuhu 😭😭😭

I'm slowly catching up on this show, but I went to check Saru's previous works, and they did Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!. Definitely makes sense that their art/animation quality should be top notch; and as others have said, the "cinematography" was frigging astounding.

Yeah Science Saru is a favorite of mine. Not the most consistent studio but always at least interesting with a unique at style.

Loved that spinning shot. So creative. It mirrors the spinning perspective of a ballerina and you can tell that the staff aren't just phoning it in. They're pouring hearts, souls, and creativity into this adaptation.
