I wasn't sure whether I was watching Attack on Titan or Kaiju no. 8 this week with Hoshina looking like Levi and Kafka playing the role of Eren.

It makes sense that they had to take Kafka into custody, but I do wonder how the fact that he just saved the lives of everyone in the base will factor into things.

He did save them from Hiroshima 2.0, I think he at least deserves the chance to explain himself.

Yeah, he's never attacked any humans and from all accounts he's just fought other Kaiju, I feel like he's just going to have to battle the fact that they're automatically hostile towards him as a Kaiju and have no idea what he really is now...not to mention his comrades will probably have very split opinions on him now.

The one time Hoshina fought him, he was later informed that it wasn't No. 8 that had attacked his soldiers (that was No. 9).

I think the defense force knows 8 attacked 9, but that doesn’t mean 8 is friendly. I mean the red kaiju also attacked other kaijus.

If you read the report about 8 that Hoshina looking at, it looks like the defense force is confused about what 8 did versus what 9 did, especially when 9 changes form. So they think 8 might still have hurt some people

Though the casualties of Nagasaki was lower than Hiroshima iirc. Is it more about the impact of the nuke rather than the casualties?

To be fair, saving them from that is less evidence against him being an imposter when he was also in the blast radius. Like, from the perspective of whether he's an enemy or not, the fact that doing so also saves his own skin is pretty relevant in how someone who doesn't know needs to evaluate whether he's a threat or not

he seemed pretty capable of just running away though as he is pretty tanky and quick himself and the blast would eliminate his biggest threats.

It's pretty impressive that it was human teamwork and skill that defeated the giant Kaiju, not Kafka, even if they still needed to be saved by Kaiju No. 8 in the end.

I think it's definitely going to be a complicated issue because he's saved them but he's also a Kaiju and they're already suspicious of sentient Kaiju as it is. Either he's been a deep-cover infiltrator or is just half-Kaiju, but either way they probably want to find out what he really is especially if there are more humanoid Kaiju.

Really shows how good the defense force is, I think last episode they also said n8 was the only Kaiju they failed to eleminate. I do wonder how humans hunted Kaiju in the past without the suits. Maybe kaiju and humanity are on an arm's race and the humanoid Kaiju are their latest attempt.

If anything, i want to know how did they hunt down Kaiju number 1?

Or how did they develop the tech to take down the first sighting of kaiju since we know regular ammo is shit and so far, artillery doesnt do much? the mushroom might be a special case??

I called the same reference like 2 episodes ago haha. What are the chances that Kafka gets to “stay” as part of the defense force through Minas suggestion and Hoshinas supervision as hes the “close quarter Kaiju expert”? Surely thatd be a bit too similar to Erwin, Levi and Eren.

They are absolutely setting it up to go exactly that way though so thats interesting atleast.

When you deep it further, axe girl and “senpai” guy have similarities to Mikasa and Armin aswell. This is just Attack on Titan with bigger guns wtf.

Considering the “dont get too close to your comrades” talk they had in an earlier episode, surely the depression is being saved for season 2.

Watch one of his other comrades be a Kaiju aswell. Season 2 Episode 6 titled “Fighter” is gonna go crazy let me tell you

Lol probably a lot. But it's off screen deaths in a show like this. Honestly wouldn't be surprised if we get some horrific back stories soon with some of the members being made about Kafka being a Kaiju.

Hoshina is DEFINITELY an anti-Levi character, with his backstory showing that unlike Levi, he was a prodigy whose skills were outdated in an age of massive kaiju. It shows that like Kafka, Hoshina had to prove himself over and over again to the Defense Corps just to earn a spot.

arguably it already is playing into a factor by them opting to take him into custody rather than "shoot first ask later" or "kill on sight" approach compared to literally all the other kaiju they've faced so far.
