I was using appreciate in accordance with definition 1c here: https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/appreciate#:~:text=%3A%20to%20value%20or%20admire%20highly,see%20it%20to%20appreciate%20it

It's not about definitions, it's about phrase usage. I picked up on the phrase ("[person] don't/doesn't fully appreciate"), not the word appreciation. It's not a big issue anyway. So no big deal.
