Asking vs Telling
One of the things Mick did, that the others don't do, is he would sit by the trench and--rather than declaiming *HIS* knowledge and opinions about the findings--he would ask the young archaeologist/digger what was found/learned.
To me, it seemed clear to me that Mick loved watching other people learn and grow (also, witness his celebration whenever Tony used a term learned earlier).
Everyone else--even Phil--loudly and enthusiastically makes themselves the center of attention.
Mick was a teacher--and it really showed.
I miss that.
