Got to meet Christopher Judge yesterday at Fan Expo! He is such a nice guy. When he saw me in my uniform he said "wow, that's epic!" Since I'm always the only person representing Stargate every year. I had him sign my jacket since it's time to retire it and make a new one.

Great storytelling...

Another reason we love this show. Great cast, great sci-fi premise, but this callback to the meeting at the lake with no fish. Wonderful. And I love in this episode how Carter handled Jack's approach until the sparks flew.

I only hope the continuation can recapture some of this great story telling

Discussion How is this man still standing

I know fans call Daniel Jackson the king of whump for good reason, but thinking about it, he has the most tragic life.

  1. Saw his parents get crushed to death
  2. Forced to relive that experience over and over again
  3. Ends up in the foster system (can't find mention of permanent foster parents)
  4. Grandfather basically abandoned him
  5. Wife dies
  6. Sexually assaulted (Hathor)
  7. Dies of radiation poisoning
  8. Kicked out of the ascended plane
  9. Dies a couple more times
  10. Captured and tortured by terrorists
  11. Committed against his will to an asylum

And that's everything I can recall off the top of my head, but I'm sure there's more. I do think it's a testament to the character that even after all the terrible things that have happened to him, Daniel still never loses his faith in humanity, never stops wanting to help people, and will always fight for the underdog.

Discussion S06E22 Full Circle: Since the Abydos pyramid and stargate were destroyed by Anubis, how did SG-1 actually manage to get back to the planet?

Skaara says "the chapp'ai" will remain until SG-1 leave, but the fact they previously couldn't reconnect to it suggests it's just an illusion like the pyramid itself.

Discussion (S03E03 Fair Game) I think the Goa'uld are full of shit

Upvotes

In the episode, it is revealed that Goa'uld are about to attack Earth with "over a hundred" ships, but the Asgard are bluffing that they can respond. Even though they can't.

I think the Goa'uld are doing the same thing. I do not believe they have a hundred ships, and whatever they have, only a small fraction can actually go to Earth. They just lie. THEY ARE GOA'ULD. OBVIOUSLY THEY LIE.

In the meantime, Thor has limited intelligence resources in the region, and probably isn't as good at lying in the first place. They are deceiving him.

It's why they agree to the treaty in the end. They can't attack Earth anyways, but this way they got concessions from the Asgard and Earth.

Ori technology legacy

Upvotes

Does the way Stargate Arc Of Truth ended, mean that earth potentially has an ally in all the prior Ori followers, or that SG Command could simply commandeer the ships to use for earth...

I really like the team dynamic in Nightwalkers. Especially when it comes to Jonas.

I just think these three meshed well together here. They had good chemistry, and nobody felt redundant or wasted. This episode also made me feel like Jonas would’ve been a more interesting and unique character if he was a detective instead of an archeologist. Him picking up on all the subtle weirdness going on in the diner was a really cool moment, it really helped him feel like something more than “temporary replacement Daniel”

Carter and Jolinar

We know that Carter is pretty damn smart. Like really damn smart.

And we've seen from Jacob that blending with one of the Tok'ra gives a lot of knowledge. And we know that Carter occasionally gets flashes of Jolinars memories.

Is it possible that some of Carters scientific accomplishments and leaps of logic weren't entirely her own? That some of Jolinars memories subtly surfaced when she was attempting to figure things out, connecting the dots to things that she likely would have figured out but just a lot faster?

Not trying to detract from her intelligence at all, and we know they didn't truly blend together. But still, if she could get flashes of other memories and feelings, why not a little scientific knowledge as well?

And IF that did occur, how smarmy do you think Rodney would be and claiming he's the smartest human in the galaxy due to that?

Never caught it before but when they hook teal'c up and Carter asks if he plays doom, he states he plays Def jam vendetta. For those of you who don't know, he is the voice of the main bad guy in that game. Just a fun little reference

The whole "just because my reproductive organs are on the inside.... who would say that!?" call back was amazing.

That is all.

Destiny AI

It would’ve been nice seeing Destiny’s AI interacting with more people, or the crew as a whole.

My guess is, it would only do that if they fucked up hard enough for it to say stop and follow my instructions. But it would’ve been nice to see them all interact on the ship’s mission and the ship updating them on what it’s collected or know’s so far.

The team spends the first 6 and most of the 7th season searching for one. Only to discover we had one in our backyard the whole time.

SG Atlantis worth a go?

I'm binge watching SG1 for the first time, I'm in season 9 and have started to notice references to SG Atlantis. So my question is, is SG Atlantis worth a watch or will it ruin the SG1 universe for me?

Discussion Why didn't you like SGU?

Every now and again I feel the need to try and make video essays for YouTube. I made one about SG1 a year ago and I feel like there's more in the Stargate world I want to explore.

For me one of the biggest controversies in the community is the opinions on Stargate Universe. The darker spin off that didn't get the anticipated reception the other series did and was cancelled after 2 seasons.

I personally loved the series - and I know I'm probably in the minority.

I'd like to defend the series against it's biggest criticisms, but for that I need to know what those are.

If you would be so kind; I'd like to know if you didn't like it, and more specifically what didn't you like? Be as brief or detailed as you like.

Thank you
