How long can a review last?

I was pulled into a review meeting on the 25th of April for poor dressing standards (large store have to dress 5 aisles alone after working all my delivery and backstock). I only work weekends and had the next weekend (2nd and 3rd may) off, so the review was extended again on 9th. I am still yet to have another meeting to finalise the review.

Surely there’s a time limit on this? When i bring it up to my manager he just says wait for the new manager to start. Which means next available date will be the 6th of June. Thats 6 weeks since the original. I think it’s unfair to leave me under review for so long no?

Got accused of shoplifting, what now?

Sorry if this isn't allowed, but I got accused of attempting to steal at a sainsbury's, I'm not entirely sure how because I hadn't take any items off the shelf or even touched them and offered to let them check my rucksack to show nothing was in it (they didn't acknowledge my offer). I think it was because I was in a rush with the bus in less than 3 minutes and I wanted something specific that I couldn't find I came off as suspicious to them when I tried to leave quickly (not running or bumping) out. I should mention it's a local sainsbury so it was in the aisle that had a lead to a small line for checkout, perhaps I should have gone back to the entry aisle but I've never had a problem before doing that and they didn't think I actually stole an item (I think they believed I was surveying the shop looking to steal and when there were employers I rushed out to leave, I honestly had no idea until they accused me, even when they suddenly blocked me at first they were surveying me and thought I was suspicious)

I did stupidly because I was shy and nervous when they suddenly blocked me without explanation look through the other fruit section I was at which didn't have the thing I wanted and when they asked if I needed help I asked for oranges (I wanted a lone orange actually) and they pointed to the pack of oranges I saw earlier so I just went oh thanks and wanted to buy it because I just thought they wanted to help me find the thing because I looked lost finding it and might as well get the pack, so maybe that instead made me look like I was just trying to cover myself after being exposed? I don't get that though because wouldn't I have stolen something in the aisle they weren't in? Am I right in my understanding that you should reasonably believe and observe there was an attempt to appropriate and conceal the item?

I filed a complaint on the customer line in more firm terms and I will be more aware of how I come off in a rush from now on but I don't know if I'll be banned nationally from the face scanning they use and if corporate will take their side.

I know this might sound like I'm actually a dodgy or naive individual making excuses but I really do feel as if the way they acted made it so that they didn't have reasonable belief and I feel hurt at being labelled something I honestly had no intention of and had not even carelessly taken an item by accident.

Argos discount

Activated my discount card ages ago, finally wanted to use it at Argos so followed the steps to link it to my Argos account. All fine, saying it’s verified and good to go.

However when I put DISCOUNT into promo code at checkout it just says invalid and doesn’t seem to be recognising the staff discount. Has anyone else had this issue and how do you get around it?

Name on Staff discount card and name on bank card.

I used my staff discount card with a bank card that is in my unmarried name by accident today does this really matter I physically used the card in store today and realised when I got home that I used a bank card that was in my unmarried name where as all my details at Sainsbury's is in my married name. Does this really matter? Will it get flagged?

Got an email to schedule interview but the link says no slot available?

I applied for a position of Home delivery driver, passed the test and got an email with the title 'we'd like to know you better. Please schedule an interview from the link provided.' However, when I visit the link, it says not slot available.

For context, I opened the link 2 hours after receiving it (not much delay) still facing this issue. Is it possible that they've already hired someone? Have emailed them about the same but yet to hear back.

Anyone faced anything similar here? What happened later? Did you get the job?

IPH Problems

So I’ve been an online shopper for over a month, however I’ve still not had a week where I’ve average out on target (194). And while I can pick at a good speed, it’s always certain things what heavily tank my iph for the whole shift.

For example today I had 2 frozens, no frozen trolleys were ready so I had to manually bring my previous one down to the GAs and wait for it to be reput together. And then I had a pre pick shop of 9 items, and about 10 shops all just 30 ambients. So for the shift my IPH was about 100, even though when I am actually picking the items I do it pretty much at target speed.

How am I meant to pass probation when it’s physically not possible to get an IPH of 194 when things like this happen?

can someone help me understand my unpaid short time…?

hi this is my first ever paycheck & i’m struggling to understand why i got 6.25 hours taken off

i work 20 hours in a week, 4 days a week so 5 hour shifts each day & have 20 mins break - my first day (not training) was the 6th (so i’ve worked a total of 14 days since then)
my calculations are 20 mins * 14 days = 4 hours & a 1/3
also went home 15 mins early one day (manager said go home as there was nothing to do) so it rounds up to 5 hours unpaid (4.916 recurring)

my payslip says my unpaid short time is 6.25 hours, so i’m confused on where the additional 1.25 hours came from

not including training bc my pay didn’t include training when i worked out the hours (so that’s a different problem for me to solve)

if there’s sm i’ve missed please lmk, if my calculations are right

Can I park in Sainsbury’s car park when I go to uni?

So obviously because I work at Sainsbury’s my reg is whitelisted on the system so I don’t get any fines.

I go to uni and the train station is a 5min walk from the Sainsbury’s so could I just park in Sainsbury’s to avoid paying anywhere else? Of course id park in the far back corner where it’s most quiet, and the car park never gets extremely busy anyway.

I’m happy to continue how I do now and pay somewhere else if it’s strongly not advised , but just wondering how strict they are with this, as it would be nice to save £6 every day I go to university. Thanks in advance

Unsociable hours payslip

Post image
22 Upvotes

Hi guys I did my first night shift in the middle of this month and I’m not sure if i am misreading my payslip or being stupid as the 15 hours unsociable I done I only made roughly £35 if a manager or someone who has worked at Sainsbury’s for a while could explain why I’m being stupid. Many thanks

Disciplinary note taking - is this normal?

Probably one for the managers but anyone with more experience than me might know - is it normal/policy to ask same-level colleagues to sit into their colleagues’ meetings and disciplinary hearings just to take notes?

I’ve never come across this before in retail or other industries - in my experience it would only be managers or supervisor level staff present for note taking these for confidentiality. (Obviously excluding any representative the employee chooses.)

Not sure if it’s just my store or a company thing. I’ve been asked to take notes a few times now and it’s making it awkward with my colleagues as I’m sat in on their disciplinary meetings and we work together at the same level…

0T Tax code

Started as an online shopper about a month ago, first job just saw payslip and it’s got 144£ of deductions as im on a 0T tax code even though I shouldn’t be getting taxed.

How long will this take to be fixed, do I need to do anything or should it automatically get sorted, if so how long will it take?

Tia

Hi, so I think we’ve all received our payslip but when do we actually get paid. Is it today midnight or tomorrow? My manager told me on the 28th.

GOL drivers who have had to go sick mid shift, what was the process? Are they more understanding with drivers going off sick generally?

Morning all,

I've got a shift this afternoon but my stomach isn't feeling too good but not awful. If I worked in store, I'd probably still go in because toilets aren't too far away if I need them. As a GOL driver though, I'm more hesitant to go in because of lack of access to toilets.

If I do go in for this shift but end up not feeling well enough to finish it, what do I do? I'd phone the store but then is it also my responsibility to contact customers to say I won't be delivering?

Can anyone tell me the top band for a 4s food manager is, and the difference from what a lead would earn top band?
