Recent find at a local shop.

Picked up this piece recently from a local shop. It had a lot of built up grime but with a little mild soap and water it came out clean and in great condition. Bought it for $400. Missing a couple of shelves and a few drawer slides. I'm looking for replacement parts if anyone has any ideas on the maker of this cabinet. It has markings that it was made in Denmark but other than that no names.

Rare Escardibul Chess Pieces

Thumbnail

I recently bought these rare Escardibul chess pieces for an exceptionally low price.

Although I'm not 100% sure of their authenticity, the box states "Ajedrez Stawton N°7"

Ajedrez is the Spanish word for "Chess", while "Stawton" was one way two Spanish brands used to bypass trademark of "Staunton".

Escardibul began in the 1840s, but these pieces appear to be from around the 1950s-1970s.

The design of the knights also resembles the Escardibul design.

Be great to hear if anyone knows a little more about the brand, or these chess pieces in particular.

Value in these Chairs? Repairs?

I have a pair of these chairs, picked up at a yard sale 20 years ago. I believe they're naugahyde. I'm moving soon and debating whether to take them with me. If I were to sell them, any thoughts on price? And if I keep them, is there a way to repair the stitching?

I don't know when or where my mom got this lamp but she got it before i was born, it's been hung for decades currently covered in dust, i pulled it down VERY gently because i'm moving i just want to identify it, but i can't seem to find any form of maker for it. (also one of the tails was looped over the top so i gently unlooped it) it's undamaged i promise, if this isn't the place fo this, i apologize.

I'm moving to california in a week and just want to identify this as i do.

Edit: I forgot to mention the cord attached to it is woven through a brass chain, the cord honestly looks like it came from the 70's, but it's a roll-switch, soo swag style I think?

Help identifying vintage convex sunburst mirror with stamped S maker’s mark

Hi all! First time poster here. I found this great mirror today, a little foggy, but am having a hard time identifying the maker and the material. I don’t think it’s gilt wood. But there is a slight crack that doesn’t look entirely like it’s a resin or plastic crack like with some of the Syroco plastiwood pieces. But, there is a small s stamp at the bottom the front point. Any thoughts?

How to source original (or close) hardware for a Century Furniture burl olivewood credenza - recessed brass pulls

Thumbnail

I have a Century Furniture “Furniture of Distinction” burl olivewood credenza/dresser from the 1970s. When I bought it, the previous owner had already replaced the original hardware with their own (very ugly) knobs, which left some damage around the holes.

After a lot of research I finally tracked down what the piece is and what the original hardware looked like, which are circular recessed brass pulls that sit in a round hole in the drawe. Very minimal and clean looking and a lot nicer than what I eventually got to replace the ugly knobs they had on there, which I feel give it a grandma vibe.

The hole is 1.5 inches in diameter and about half an inch deep. There are two original screw holes inside the cup plus a center hole drilled by the previous owner, so I have some flexibility on attachment.

Two questions:

  • Does anyone know exactly what these pulls are called or knkw manufacturer for the original Century hardware?

  • Where would I could source either the originals or a close alternative?

I’m attaching photos of the dresser including a close-up of the hole with measurements. Any help appreciated! I feel it deserves to be brought back to its original glory.

Strange features on this potential Lane Acclaim.

Hi all! I saw a desk that is being listed as a Lane Acclaim series for $450. However, it has a few features that I have never seen on a desk from the line. Specifically:

- Slats along side of desk.
- Raised ridge by base of leg (level with bottom of desk).
- Odd pattern on desktop (reminds me of those awful vinyl desktops in school) when I am used to the beautiful wooden joinery pattern.

Have you seen anything similar on authentic Lane furniture? Could this be from a different line that I am not aware of? Thanks!
