I feel that if Arthur knew about Merlin’s magic in the show I feel like he would judge Merlin on his plans and the excuses he comes up with to others.

I’m sure everyone has noticed this before me, but he didn’t have his neckerchief in the first two episodes.
When did he get it?

Hi!
I'm looking into getting a ticket for Colin Morgan's book event, but I've never been to an author talk before and I can't find information about what the talk is about, or if it's like a formal event? I'm autistic, and I would love to go, it's just the not knowing exactly what is happening/what to wear etc is worrying me, if anyone could help I'd appreciate it!
thank you!

Rewatching Merlin just made me realize how good it would've been if Merlin revealed his magic to Arthur in The Last Dragonlord. Just that entire episode alone was just so good to do it. His lost of his father and him telling Arthur why he felt that way, or him saying it after the dragon battle with Arthur hearing Merlin speak dragon tongue.. ugh the what if man.

I just realized I have completely neglected to share updates to my current story here. Uh oops
Anyways. There are now 24 chapters, with about 40+ pending
Characters: Everyone plus several OCs
Summary: Merlin attempts to take his own life, but instead sets in motion a series of events the gods did not plan for. The gods are now scrambling to force a new prophecy. Faces from the past and present blur together as Merlin tries to save the world he wanted to leave.

For a piece of literature to be considered a tragedy it needs certain characteristics.
A tragedy by definition needs to be inevitable - consequences of fate or a fatal flaw of the main character.
Merlin’s fatal flaw was always putting Arthur’s happiness first.
This is best shown in the episode “The Sins of the Father “
Merlin stops Arthur from killing Uther
This saves Arthur from the pain of commiting Fratricide and losing the only parent he ever knew.
By doing this he reinforces the idea of magic as being inherently evil in Arthur’s mind.
If Arthur had killed his father, he would have never been the same, yet, he would become king and no doubt reverse the laws against magic as he would see through Uther’s bias on the topic.
By valuing Arthur’s wellbeing over the Future of Magic, Merlin sets both of them on the path of tragedy.

Shoutout for this one goes to u/AngelofGrace96 ! And what timing, because I recently got called by a recruiter for a job, scheduled an interview with them, and then (after about 10 seconds of googling) found out that the company is a dressed-up MLM.
So yeah, I really feel this meme right now jaja

I'm watching Merlin BBC for the first time, and i just have mixed feelings about this episode. I didn't see their kiss as Romantic "at all", infact i absolutely hated it. I loved that Quinevere finally called him out for being an ass about everything he did to others. And, i loved how the episode highlighted how different others around him treat him because he's "The Prince". And, it's true. But, this episode was supposed to be about him having a small bit of character development, but i didn't see anything barely at all. Maybe i didn't understand his character development in this episode, but i think he really didn't deserve the acceptance from Guinevere.
In this episode she constantly called him out for being an ass. Sleeping on her bed without asking, getting plates from the kitchen dinner, and calling her out for being a servant who was underneath him. And, this was meant to show a small glimpse of character development in his future. But, after these small glimpses of being called out for an arrogant asshole i thought he might have shown humility. But, once he said that he was going to sleep on the floor he told Merlin to get him a "Mattress" in secret. I could have forgiven him if he were to sleep on the floor after all of this stuff, but after everything that happened he just "ordered" Merlin to get him a Mattress, which essentially destroyed the message of the episode.
Then they had the two of them kissing as foreshadowing, but i didn't see it as "Romantic" and hated it. It wasn't about disliking or liking the pairing, it was about how Arthur didn't "deserve" that kiss. I could've forgiven him if he showed he learned something, but he didn't learn anything about humility. And, Quinevere never knew or found out about the Mattress which only "proved" he didn't "deserve" that little Romantic moment it tried to represent. I like the episode, but it felt like the message it tried to present was lackluster. Maybe i didn't understand something in the episode, but i just felt like Quinevere shouldn't have kissed Arthur in that episode.

Hii, I read the description of this fanfiction somewhere but can't find where and I really wnat to read this.
The fanfiction is basically what I wrote in the title. It says that there was a monster and they used Arthur as bait. The monster makes Arthur see Merlin die, even though he's fine. Arthur is devasted. Arthur had told Merlin to stay home to keep him safe, but Merlin (secretly?) went anyway and sees Arthur lose it over thinking that Merlin died
I think it's on ao3. I'm not sure if this is the description used on ao3. It might have been a summary from a tumblr post or another site.
Thanks for all answers!

I'm really wondering about Morgana's downfall. Leaving aside the theories about the Mandrake's root and the claim that the creators couldn't write it... if we're leaving that aside...
So did she truly break... or was she never morally good? Because I can think of examples like Loki and Anakin... Even by doing cruel things... you don't lose that part of yourself that was once innocent.
Morgana doesn't even have that. That's why the Mandrake theory is tempting.
What if Morgana was always selfish? Was it simply masked by her upbringing as a lady? Meaning she's supposed to be gentle and detached? I noticed this especially with Arthur. Morgana constantly scolds him. But she doesn't see what Merlin does: the pressure he lives under. As Uther's son. With Gwen... Lancelot leaves. Gwen looks emotionally shattered. Morgana doesn't comfort her. She says Gwen has to return to work. After Tom's death, she doesn't ask... if Gwen wants revenge. She does it herself.
Or situation with poison. I was sure that she didn’t know about plan Morgause. Maybe she didn’t know in 2x12 but in 3x1, she told to Merlin that he did right thing to protect his friends. So now she knows. She still didn’t CARE.
Or later. Annis, an acquaintance of Gorlois, tells her to her face that she's starting to resemble Uther. And she doesn't have a moment's reflection. Not a thought that maybe she's gone too far.

Can someone recommend me SLOW-BURN Merthur fics where they are hopelessly in love with each other? Emotional and spicy all at once?
I have read "And like the cycle of the year, we begin again" and loved it. I'm reading Hiraeth now and am loving it so far as well.
Thank you!!
