Last year I was noodling the song “I am the very model of a modern major general” as a JJH parody. “He is the very model of a modern fake judge podcast host” or something like that. I had a good few lines down, but have since lost the scrap of paper I was writing that on. This was completely forgotten until this week when I was introducing my kids to the Pirates of Penzance musical.

Now it’s in my head again, and I recalled that Hodgman Actual’s birthday is Wednesday (6/3). So I’m throwing it out to the hive mind as perhaps a birthday gift to John to get a couple of verses written.

A couple used to have a tradition where they would give each other a "safety kiss" as the last item on the mental checklist when going somewhere in the car. The tradition fell away, but now that they are expecting their first child, the plaintiff wants to bring it back. The defendant is against superstitions and perfunctory kisses.

4 years late, but just listened to JJH episode 584 and Jesse has never been more right. Baseball Stars is indeed the most superior NES baseball game.

I cannot think of a person who is a more perfect blend of Spider Man fandom, old movie expertise, screen writing experience, and Nic Cage knowledge. I really hope we'll get to hear his thoughts on the series.

I saw this on the JJHO Instagram feed today and it's HILARIOUS. Lynn Cullen, the former host of The Pennsylvania Game (see: Episode 7743, "Trivial Law-Suit"), responds to the episode in which she's prominently mentioned. The part about JJHO starts about 52 minutes into the video. Basically, she thinks it's "boring," even though HER video is just as long! "[The video] was over an hour long, and I thought, fuck this!" and "I found it incredibly boring, except for the parts where they were raving about me."

This woman is a legend, and I think she NEEDS to be a guest on JJHO. Obviously she won't want to be a guest bailiff on a regular episode because it would be "too long" and "incredibly boring," but how about having her as a guest on a special Swift Justice docket-clearing ep? Listen to how she comes after the person who asked Judge Hodgman about forks in the dishwasher (tines up or tines down). She has OPINIONS!!!

Am I the only JJGO listener who was at that Public Radio conference in Las Vegas that Jesse is always talking about? I had only been listening to JJHO and Bullseye for about 6 months when I went - not even sure I was listening to JJGO at the time. And like a typical Max Fun listener, when I saw Jesse hanging out, I was too shy to go up to him and say that I enjoyed Bullseye and Judge John Hodgman. So I'm saying it now! Jesse - I enjoy your shows! Even JJGO! And you were funny as one of the guests on the impromptu quiz show that they did (was it hosted by Ophelia Eisenberg? Hard to remember). And I can confirm that Kai Ryssdal kicked ass at hosting and Bird Note had the best booth. I think they had a peregrine falcon.

Are there any other public radio employees out there in Tuppie land?

I keep seeing people claiming that they had no idea that there was a JJGo wiki, so let the word go out: there is a JJGo wiki. I am currently the only person maintaining the wiki, probably because nobody else knows about it.
