FEEDBACK / SUGGESTION Arrowhead, can we please get a normal looking medium Siege Ready armor? I don't want to look like an aliexpress warrior cosplay

Post image

And it certainly does look to me like it doesn't fit the perk theme at all.

If only there were some kind of system in this world where you could wear one armor and have the perks of another. Maybe call it transmog or something.

u/Assupoika 9d ago

Yeah, I would defend the whole apples tasting like bacon thing IF the armours would actually visually look like they give you the perk they have.

But A LOT of the armours just don't look like they give the benefit they do. Siege ready is prime example, I would imagine it having a lot of ammo pouches but pretty much only the Roadblock looks like it's carrying a lot of extra magazines.

Extra pockets and/or bandoliers should be mandatory for armor that increases ammo, stims, and grenades.

u/Postaltariat 9d ago

And we have servo assisted armor....with 0 servos. Thank you AH for your never ending genius.

"This armor is comprised of extremely heavy plates with 40 mm grenades all over it. Surely it gives you explosive damage resistance and more ammo."

"Wrong"

"This armor lets you throw things further."

Arrowhead needs to be walloped with the bacon flavored apples meme everyday until they start applying their own philosophy.

Like the light armor from democratic detonation!

The other thing I don’t get when people say “but the armor needs to match the perk” as a argument against Transmog is that most of the perks we have aren’t things that we can see.

Like we have things like Democracy Protects, the recoil reduction on the Engineer and Fortified armor, literally all of the damage resistant type perks, extra melee damage, reload speed, etc.

None of the armors with these types of perks depict the perk visually, nor do they need to. The only perk I can think of that would actually look weird without an armor that shows it is Servo-Assisted, because the whole thing behind it is that the armor has a robotic arm that is used to throw farther, but then again we have the Dust Devil armor and people don’t really use Servo-Assisted anyway.

13

u/HarmEgg 9d ago

There is already 4 sets that have servo without the robot arm Knight, Legionnaire, Dreadnought, and Winter Warrior. Dreadnought looks like it should have siege ready or engineering kit.

u/1eventHorizon9 9d ago

I'd be more inclined to use the servo armors if I could pick another passive. The base throw range seems fine to me and at this point switching would throw off my aim completely.

u/Maro_Nobodycares Democratic Detonator 9d ago

I think something fun they could try to do is have changing out the armor passive add certain visual elements to showcase what passive someone has

Though I'll be honest, this is more so you know if someone has Integrated Explosives on, you see something like a bomb collar and know not to be too close to them when possible

1

u/Specialist-Donut8080 8d ago

The thing that annoys me is that there is a number of armors that were clearly designed for a specific passive, only for Arrowhead to change the passive last minute and not even update the name, let alone the fact that the armors design doesn't fit it new passive. The DP-8 Mountain Scaled is yet another case of the passive being changed last minute (name indicates it should had Democracy Protects instead of Siege Ready). I just wish Arrowhead would go back and give them the passives there were originally meant to have.

Yeah. The real answer to this problem is just to be able to choose what perks your armor has. If AH have such a problem with the “realism” aspect, don’t call them armor perks. Call them body mods or something. Who gives a shit? It’s clearly something a majority of players want.

I’ll be honest, perks play very little role in my selection of armor. I want to look cool while I kill things first and foremost. But if I could pick the mods, it would clearly be the most fun. Seems so silly for them to die on this hill.

It's just leaving money on the table, too.

Why buy the cool looking super store armour if you're never going to wear it because you don't like the perk?

Let me put whatever perk I want on it, though, and I'd spend a thousand supercredits tomorrow.

If I had a nickel for every cool armor with a bad perk, I'd be able to buy another warbond.

This 1000%.

There are sooooo many cool looking armors I will never ever use because I don't want to place radar scans on the map or blow up after I die or whatever. I just want my light siege ready like 90% of the time and my heavy gas or flame resist for fun defense/eradicate missions, but I'd love for them to look different and actually match my preferred capes & helmets.

29

u/JohnTHICC22 9d ago

No you see that would give players advantage and Arrow Head can't have that

13

u/Broken-Digital-Clock Free of Thought 9d ago

I want to look cool and have a fully optimized loadout.

Luckily, Truth Enforcer armor exists.

25

u/Pathophile HD1 Veteran 9d ago

While I love the Truth Enforcer armor, I’d argue the perks are pretty meh. The slight increase in armor is nice, but not significant. The flinch resistance also kinda sucks. It does reduce it, but does not eliminate it.

5

u/Braidaney Free of Thought 9d ago

Truth enforcer armor is my favorite looking but yeah the perks suck. I’d rather have extra nades or magazines than a tiny bit of extra health.

2

u/Broken-Digital-Clock Free of Thought 9d ago

Extra armor is always good, it can also translate to more speed.

After using it enough, I notice missing the flinch, especially against ranged enemies.

Radar map pings are kind of broken. Being able to see the enemy anywhere on the map is criminally underrated.

1

u/Pathophile HD1 Veteran 9d ago

I’m not hating on it, just saying the perk is pretty mid.

As far as pinging the map, my issue is that sometimes patrols spawn right next to you, so it’s not as useful as it seems.

2

u/Yz-Guy ‎ [REDACTED] 9d ago

Thats how I feel about the stealth armor. I love how it looks. If I choose to stealth, great. If not, I dont really take it off and the stealth perk is a slight bonus during normal gameplay.

u/Broken-Digital-Clock Free of Thought 9d ago

Sometimes it just fits.

That warbond had devastating effects on the game even though it is pretty cool

2

u/CannonGerbil 9d ago

The truth enforcer perks might be in contention for the worst armor perk in the game, the flinch resistance doesn't actually remove flinching, so nine times out of ten if you would've missed if you weren't wearing it, the reduced flinch would still make you miss anyway. Not to mention getting shot while aiming shouldn't be something that happens particularly often in the first place given how much of a glass cannon we are.

3

u/gracekk24PL SPILL OIL 9d ago

I can understand some armors being off while having a specific perk (Gas Resistant with Viper Commandos), but there should be some option for customization that doesn't throw playstyle choice out the window.

I also doubt players would care, or want to have a sleeveless armor while using a gas build, so it's a natural deterrent.

1

u/Yz-Guy ‎ [REDACTED] 9d ago

Honestly. I call bullshit on the whole realism thing at this point. Bc you have to either stick to it or not. There is no in between. And thats where they are, in between. That being said, some of the armor perks make NO sense. Democracy protects being the biggest transgression.

u/_borT 9d ago

So many cool looking armors not getting used due to having meme perks….

Pisses me off to no end. I remember the devs saying that they won’t allow transmog because it’s like switching an apple to bacon flavor or something stupid like that. Absolute bone heads

"apple flavored bacon" I believe was the excuse, meanwhile this exists

3

u/iiEquinoxx 9d ago

Truly a genius design philosophy. Every other game with a transmog system is terrible and stupid because they keep making my damn apples bacon flavored!! Thank you Arrowhead!

2

u/WashingtonMK2 9d ago

Knowing AH, the perks are probably so ingrained into the code of the armors that they can't figure out how to separate the two without breaking something. They just say that transmog doesn't align with their vision to save face.

Modders have probably already figured it out, but AH would rather burn to the ground than take a page outta the modders' book.

9

u/nandobro Assault Infantry 9d ago

Bu- bu- but what if you really need to know if your random teammate is wearing the siege ready armor for some reason? How will you know he has that perk? Your gameplay experience will be ruined because you don’t know! /s

25

u/YorhaUnit8S ‎ [REDACTED] 9d ago

I would just slap Siege Ready on ODST armor and be happy then. But if we can't have transmog - I expect AH to at least follow their own system.

5

u/Super_Sailor_Moon Part-time SEAF-chan and Seyshel Beach babe! 9d ago

This. Or Extra Padding even. Or Advanced Filtration for gas builds. Transmog would be such a massive W for Arrowhead, yet they still can't stop stepping on the rakes on the ground that they placed all around themselves....

1

u/CannonGerbil 9d ago

Because AH clearly was not planning on adding siege ready to a medium armor set and hastily slapped it onto an armor they already were going to release on Lunar new year in order to satisfy player demand.

15

u/snatched_along 9d ago

Something something "bacon flavored apple" excuse excuse.

17

u/JustSomeGuyMedia 9d ago

Much like being able to steer hellpods, and put turrets high up on stuff, it just doesn’t fit their vision sweaty 💅

(I hope the joke this is meant as comes across. I’m annoyed by not having transmog as well.)

This would require so much work that, I would much rather have a shader system similar to the Vehicle Skins we got from the Warbonds.

But there is also a value in NOT giving players unlimited power over game control.

u/Betriz2 Truth Enforcer 8d ago

If you don't like the blue, silver and gold of the armor but like it otherwise, there should be a way to change the colors to something you like, such as black, white and yellow. Maybe even extend that to weapons and stratagems, so you can choose their color scheme as well.

1

u/superbozo 8d ago

ha! Sir! Are you insane!? Do your apples taste like bacon too? What on earth are you going on about? Please, let AH continue their genius. It's been 2 years. I *think* they know what theyre doing.
