Hate when he’s gone for work

Upvotes

My husband goes out of town once a month for work and I absolutely hate it. I hate sleeping in bed without him and usually sleep terribly. It’s crazy because we got married right before I turned 30 and I slept alone every night before that and was fine and now it’s horrible. He may not have to do the out of town trips soon and I’m really hoping that he doesn’t anymore. My one dog that I had before him is happy that she gets “her” side of the bed back though and sleeps on his pillow when he’s gone.

Where are you and your spouse in birth order and how do you feel it affects your relationship?

I’m a firstborn, married to a firstborn. Pros: we are both very confident, independent caretakers. Cons: we are both stubborn and willfully against showing pain or weakness.

We work amazingly well together as a team (11 years next month!) and it makes the relationship and everything from parenting to maintaining our home to how we handle adversity together go very smoothly. But neither of us likes to admit when we are sick or hurting and it makes it hard for the other one to care-take. Also we both have ridiculous younger siblings who make incredibly poor and destructive life choices, and it’s very hard to watch or try and help.

But again, since we are both the eldest, it gives us each a unique empathy for the other.

What about you?

not married yet, just have a question: do you guys have kids?

i'm (24f) personally torn on having children. on one hand, it sounds wonderful to have a child with my partner (once we marry, of course,) but i can't help but feel it could make our lives more stressful. i see lots of parents say their relationships got strained from having kids. are any of you making it work regardless?

Going through a separation right now. Only been a month. Did any of you guys go through the same thing and get back together? Last year was tough for us but I’ve absolutely loved our marriage that’s why I’m not so quick to give up but it’s just hard

My two best friends and my husband

my husband cheated on me 35 years ago with my two best friends my second friend found out about my first friend confronted my husband angrily told him to come to talk about it and then slept with for six years before I found out two weeks ago I found out it was a secret for six years. and I was supposed to believe they didn’t talk about it afterwards or flirt anytime when they were together at my house he’s a totally different person now and I get that he was just scared and didn’t wanna lose his family is kept secret? I just don’t know why he would let her come over every day, even if he didn’t tell me at least secretly tell her to stay away.

Newlyweds, summer fun?

Me and my wife got married in December and I want to start traditions, starting this summer, she is a teacher and is off over the summer, I work over the weekend fri-sunday. I want to make this summer fun 😁 im thinking about doing mini trips out of town and having fun date nights at home. I wanted to get some opinions on how to make some of the activities fun enough or worthy of becoming a traditions.

Any of y’all find your person later in life?

33f, turning 34 in two weeks. I have so many wonderful friends in my life, but I just can’t seem to figure out the partner portion. I’ve dated some wonderful people and some not so wonderful people, and I just never seem to get it right.
I’m worried everyone has already found their forever person, and it’s terrifying and lonely as hell.
Tell me about how you met your person after the age of 35? I’m losing hope out here.

4 year anniversary with a newborn and toddler

Im dire need of some help with an anniversary gift for my husband (40 M). We have a 4 week old and a 2 year old so going out and trips are not in the near future plans. He loves working out (lifting) and we have a home gym so I’m hoping to get him something unique for the gym. He’s hard to impress but I want to at least try to make this special.

If you have any ideas please feel free to share. Thank you so much!

This Man…

It’s Memorial Day which means it’s a day off for us both. We’re DINK’s and both our families live out in the country vs our city so we had a day to ourselves!

It started with bacon, egg, & cheese breakfast burritos (made on the fly as we’re moving = limited ingredients 😅 iykyk) and 18 holes booked at our local club course with an online deal!

After having a great round (shot under 100!!) did we meet on with my best friend and her husband, who just happens to be pregnant and live long distance from us!! It was the best day ever!!

Cut to when we’re home, finally relaxing (and sitting in our buzz off the day 🤭) do we fall into each other and have probably the hottest prequel sex we’re going to have for the week 🫠 He’s out mowing the lawn now. Like… wtf.

Will update after tonight. Wish me luck ✌️

Just curious if you’ve managed to find “your person” even though you’re vastly different from one another?

Happy Marriages - how do you do conflict well to keep such a great relationship?

HI Everyone! I am someone who aspires to be in a happy marriage and hope to learn from others who share such beautiful stories on this sub. I wanted to ask how you approach or manage conflict with your significant other.

Are you just on the same page on the way you talk through conflict? Does conflict not come up often? For me, I worry that despite significant self-work and working on how I do conflict, I have not found a male partner whom I can do conflict in a way that we work through things. Stuff just gets covered up and is not good for the relationship.

Love to hear how happy couples do conflict!
