It's kinda mid imo, I played through the first ten hours and I got very bored. Sbd that's coming from someone that's beaten persona 3-5 like 4 times each

I like Persona 5 more but I genuinely find it surprising how someone could like adore Persona and not vibe with Metaphor. I think it kinda takes what worked about Persona 5 in terms of pace of combat and visuals and put in a really novel class system and a new setting.

I'd say my biggest issue with Metaphor is that in its breadth I think a lot of the towns and cities just feel a bit undercooked. Like you walk through the streets of Inaba in 4 or Tokyo in 5 and there is a certain density that comes with it but in Metaphor some of the cities feel totally dead. Along that lane I think the way social stats are gained also feels a bit bland.

What I liked about Persona is that even though P3-5 followed the same gameplay formula the vibes, themes and atmosphere of the games were totally different. Just changing the combat UI made the games feel way different. Metaphor tried too much to be P5 and wasn't able to find its own identity.

Also on paper a fantasy Persona sounds like a killer idea, but in the end the fantasy failed to make the Persona better and neither did the Persona made the fantasy better. They could have scrapped the calendar system and end up with a better game.
