The quotes of her referencing Masnick's work:

Mike Masnick actually did a really fantastic whole podcast series where he spoke to the people behind section 230, including those involved in the early internet and the various lawsuits at the time. Also, Mike Masnick at TechDirt really has done the best takedown of all the claims that Gordon-Levitt has made about section 230 on his tech news website, TechDirt. It's going to be linked below and I'm going to be using a lot of stuff directly from Mike in this video. [...]

As Mike Masnick writes, this is important [...]

As Mike Masnick reports [...]

To put it in real terms, as Mike says, under section 230 [...]

Once again, Mike Masnick at TechDirt did the best response, and I'm just going to read large parts of it while adding my own commentary. [...]

I'm really just going to read what again Mike Masnick wrote because I think it's just important to note [...]

Mike Masnick has again as always done the Lord's work [...]

Mike Masnick’s brilliant takedown of JGL’s claims on TechDirt: https://www.techdirt.com/2026/02/12/j...

ALSO: Huge thanks to Mike as always for speaking to me before I published this video and helping me with my work. TechDirt is essential reading as all Free Speech Friday viewers know! :) Go leave a comment under JGL's video and spam the link to Mike's piece!!

Masnick has appeared on Taylor's podcast before.

Masnick promoted the video:

Firstly, Masnick is based as fuck. I've cited their articles a bunch of times before. Fun fact: he's the guy who coined the term, "Streisand effect."

As for Taylor's video, insofar as Masnick's articles are concerned, this is problematic but not something that should be blown out of proportion. He's credited enough times throughout the video.

Yeah, she follows Masnick's main article too closely (outright verbatim most of the time), she should have rephrased, etc., etc., but it's abundantly clear throughout the video that she's heavily drawing heavily from Masnick's work, and Masnick himself is not annoyed by it -- in fact, it looks like he helped Lorenz with the video. I still don't like the video; lazy effort by a "journalist", but it's mostly correct purely because Masnick knows what he's talking about. The few parts of her own commentary are nothing insightful.
