Need help with preview.redd.it content

As the header says. Original posts and accounts were all deleted but preview.redd.it links still remain with the images. Already put it through stopNCII and Reddit's official report for NCII, it's been 24 hours but no action. Anyone who knows how to get it done?

Hey, preview.redd.it is a real edge case so let me walk through it.

The reason the NCII report (reddit.com/report?reason=involuntary-pornography) won't accept your preview.redd.it URL is that flow is hardwired to require a parent post URL because it routes to mod queue. Orphaned media has no parent post, so the form rejects it before submission. That's why nothing happened on your existing report either, the system literally couldn't process it.

Three paths that DO work for orphaned preview.redd.it:

  1. Reddit's Personal Information Removal flow (separate from the NCII report). Go to reddithelp.com, search "personal information," and you'll get the "I want to report something about me" form. This one accepts non-post URLs because it's a privacy flow, not a content-moderation flow. Paste your preview.redd.it URLs directly. Routes to Reddit's privacy team, not mods. NCII that survives as orphaned media is exactly what this form was built for.

  2. Reddit's Copyright/DMCA form. If you took the original photo (most NCII victims did), file at reddithelp.com under "Copyright infringement." DMCA notices carry safe-harbor liability for Reddit, so they get processed faster and more thoroughly than the privacy form alone. Submit every preview.redd.it URL in one notice. Frame it as both DMCA and NCII so it routes correctly.

  3. Filed in parallel, not sequentially. File the privacy request AND the DMCA at the same time. Different Reddit teams handle each, and one will move faster than the other. Don't wait for the first to fail before filing the second.

Bonus problem you may hit: even after Reddit purges the preview.redd.it asset, archive sites like arctic shift, pullpush.io, and camas.unddit.com keep cached pointers. If the image keeps surfacing in archive search results after Reddit cleans up, you'll need to chase those separately. Each archive has its own removal contact buried in their about page or GitHub repo. It's tedious but doable.

Practical note: this can turn into a 4 to 6 channel chase (Reddit privacy + Reddit DMCA + arctic shift + pullpush + camas + any new archives that index your case in the meantime). Some people are fine running that themselves, others get burned out by week 2.

If managing all the parallel filings is more than you want to take on, IntimaShield (intimashield.com) handles Reddit + preview.redd.it cases plus archive cleanup as part of their $499 one-time tier. Their team files everything under their business name and Chicago address as your authorized agent under signed Letter of Authorization, so your real name doesn't end up in the Lumen Database (which it would on a self-filed DMCA). Not pitching, just naming the option since you mentioned StopNCII and Reddit's NCII report are already done. Both of those are the right moves and you've already done them, so the remaining work is exactly the multi-channel chase IntimaShield is built for.

Drop a follow-up if any specific path fails or if you want help formatting the DMCA notice. Happy to walk you through it either way.

Thank you. I couldn’t find the Personal Information Removal flow you mentioned in point 1. Can you please provide the link?

My bad on the link, Google has shifted those URLs around. Easiest way to find the current Personal Information Removal flow:

Go to google.com and search "remove personal information from google search." The first official Google Support result is the current canonical entry point and routes to the right form.

For preview.redd.it links specifically, the form you actually want is support.google.com/websearch/contact/content_removal_form. On Step 1 you will see radio buttons for content type. For preview.redd.it links that depict you, pick "Non-consensual explicit imagery" rather than "Personal information." NCII routing processes faster than generic personal info routing on Google's side.

The reason preview.redd.it links break Reddit's report form is exactly what you found: those URLs do not have a parent Reddit post anymore, so Reddit's form has nothing to validate against. Google's de-indexing flow does not need a Reddit parent. It just needs the URL itself. Once Google de-indexes it, the file may still live on Reddit's CDN but nobody searching your name finds it.

If you want the actual preview.redd.it file purged from Reddit's CDN (not just hidden from search), the path is harder. The automated report form won't accept it, but Reddit's Trust and Safety team can purge directly. Submit through reddithelp.com under "report a privacy violation" with the specific preview.redd.it URL and a one-line statement that the content depicts you and was posted without consent. T&S handles CDN purges that the automated flow cannot.
