Those shitty erasers that wouldn’t erase anything just smear a black smudge over your paper lol

12

u/[deleted] May 03 '23

Ahhhh memory level unlocked forgot about the black smudges I would write with that lol

The TV is too new. There’s a MacBook on the cart

Everything else is great

14

u/BeanDux May 03 '23

Yeah, I've noticed the ceiling mounted projector. Should've been an overhead with the clear plastic sheets. Lol.

1

u/Katerina_VonCat May 04 '23

Good old elmo.

18

u/[deleted] May 03 '23

Oops :(

u/bionic_cmdo May 03 '23

I feel like perfection and view master was an 80's thing.

When I was in high school, a teacher accidentally drew on his screen instead of the transparency. It’s probably still there.

We still had chalkboards in the 90s. We didn't get dry erase until ~2005

2

u/Perry7609 May 03 '23

I was wondering if the DVD/VCR player was a bit early too. I think DVDs finally exceeded VHS sales in 2001, although I’m wondering if those players had already been mainstream by that point?

u/ForceGhost47 May 03 '23

The reflection in the tv looks like a guy taking a picture with his smartphone too

22

u/posting_drunk_naked May 03 '23

God the absolute fucking nonsense you'd get from Napster. I once downloaded a Cradle of Filth song that was tagged as "blues" 😐 I used to organize that shit by hand, but then I learned about id3 taggers so it was slightly less painful

17

u/IntergalacticPopTart May 03 '23

Johnny Cash - All the Small Things, Feat. Weird Al - mp3 - 4852KB

8

u/_captaincool May 03 '23

All the different versions of the same song in the list; whiskey in the jar, whiskey in a jar, whiskey a jar, whisky in a jar, whisky in the jar. My friends and I still think back to the LimeWire mislabeled punk songs

2

u/[deleted] May 03 '23

memory leveled up

1

u/315retro May 04 '23

That and all the gore/questionable porn you'd get thinking it was a song and then see you got a jpg. It was like a traumatic Rick roll!

7

u/[deleted] May 03 '23

Bear share was my shit

5

u/Conebones May 03 '23

Don't forget Morpheus and kazza

2

u/Katerina_VonCat May 04 '23

And limewire after bear share was over

1

u/oneandonlytara May 04 '23

omg KaZaA was my jam once Napster died. In college, the dorm had a no P2P sharing rule. I thought "screw this.. I'm gonna download it anyways" and the following day we all got voicemails on our room phones about P2P. I always assumed I was the catalyst, lmao.

Also, pretty sure some rogue file from KaZaA that nuked one of our family PC's. Oops.

1

u/MansionOfficial May 04 '23

I used Demonoid and eMule

16

u/Two5Chicken May 03 '23

Very nice set, thanks for the post.

2

u/[deleted] May 03 '23

You’re welcome. Nostalgia is very powerful.

3

u/Crazy-toons May 03 '23

That was freaking awesome! 👍

3

u/wheelchair_wavy May 03 '23

Talk about a trip down memory lane!!!

3

u/[deleted] May 03 '23

This is like home

3

u/guyuteharpua May 04 '23

The pencil/cassette image is decidely 80s...

1

u/[deleted] May 04 '23

I’m torn between invention dates and just shit we remembered doing in the nineties

1

u/guyuteharpua May 04 '23

Still some awesome images in there, but I switched to CDs right around 1990.

3

u/ThreedZombies May 03 '23

14 hits hard 90s for me

1

u/[deleted] May 03 '23

Yeah it’s ten for me. But all of them. Damn fifteen and the magic school bus too

2

u/clarenceismyanimus May 03 '23

We still play Bop It at times.

2

u/I_C_da_G May 03 '23

Simple but effective

2

u/BookOfAnomalies May 03 '23

Woha... that was a trip. I am back in a nostalgic mood these last 2 days and this just added to it...

2

u/funmasterjerky May 03 '23

Captain Planet was awesome.

2

u/BlackHeartedXenial May 03 '23

I AM the dinosaur tycoon. Holly crap that pic hit hard!

2

u/Lame_usernames_left May 03 '23

Those popping ball things are probably the reason I have anxiety now. Not a fun toy for high strung kids lol

1

u/[deleted] May 03 '23

Facts lol that was def a memory level up when I saw that pic

2

u/BarryJGleed May 03 '23

Is that 13?

What were they? And what was their function, like, how did they work?

I remember them, but only vaguely……

1

u/[deleted] May 03 '23

I vaguely remember too maybe someone could help but I just remember pushing them inside out and them snapping maybe snapping and thrusting upward can’t 100% recall

2

u/louellem May 04 '23

I thought it was that you turn them inside out and put them down on a table, and they flip back right side out and launch themselves into the air.

1

u/[deleted] May 04 '23

Yea think so. Then waiting for them to flip

2

u/whatsaflashbang May 03 '23

I remember changing the name of the band on the Metallica songs in my library to avoid getting my account banned…good times

2

u/Daimakku1 May 03 '23

That MacBook Air on the cart is messing with my immersion!

Jk, this is great. Thanks for the nostalgia, OP.

1

u/[deleted] May 03 '23

Messing with mine too sry :)

2

u/FreeLeadFacials May 03 '23

Bop It! Extreme was my shit. Got it during the Christmas of '99 with Crash Bash and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis for the PS1. I actually beat Bop It! Extreme a few days after I got it. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't it like 255 or 355 correct responses to master it?

2

u/[deleted] May 03 '23

Pic 7 has a smart board projector LOL more like my classroom from 2009

2

u/[deleted] May 03 '23

I know I messed up that pic tv still the same

2

u/[deleted] May 03 '23

Yeah also sorry I wrote that before I saw three other people said the same thing my bad

2

u/[deleted] May 03 '23

All good I’ll do better on my next post :)

2

u/jessriv34 May 03 '23

I remember Perfection before the 90s

2

u/Fizzy_Greener May 03 '23

That dial up failure prompt triggered ptsd

2

u/IcyRandy May 03 '23

Daaaaaamn that’s the tv I saw 9/11 on!!!

2

u/[deleted] May 03 '23

Lmao all the Metallica on Napster

2

u/MrLanesLament May 03 '23

While we’re talking about Captain Planet, can anyone back me up on this?

I was sick once, and I woke up really early in the morning, turned on the TV, and Captain Planet was on.

It was this episode where all of the characters have kids, it was implied to be unexpected, and their lives are absolutely nightmarish because of it.

That episode really stuck with me. I got confident buying condoms pretty early on, and am happily child free, I never plan on having children.

Does anyone else remember that episode?

1

u/[deleted] May 04 '23

I barely remembered the name of the show let alone the episode lol can prob google the episodes tho

2

u/[deleted] May 04 '23

"Captain Planet! He's our hero! Gonna take pollution down to ze-ro!!"

2

u/bunkdiggidy May 04 '23

Dinopark Tycoon! That takes me back...

2

u/[deleted] May 04 '23

Did you really have to hit me with Dino Park Tycoon? It was the first indication I ever got that I can’t manage crap.

2

u/InspiredBlue May 04 '23

Omg how I loved pogs! I had so many

2

u/[deleted] May 04 '23

“Remember Alf? He’s back. In pog form.”

2

u/lemystereduchipot May 04 '23

I wanna go home.

2

u/nejicanspin May 04 '23

What's pic 10? I've never seen it before :o

Edit: Nvm I saw another comment asking the same thing lol

1

u/[deleted] May 04 '23

Dinopark tycoon remember playing it in school?

2

u/nejicanspin May 04 '23

No 😢 I remember KidPix, Oregon Trail, some underwater exploration game, a random kid friendly MS paint game, and something with a gumball machine and learning about words that rhymed. (This is from like 20 years ago though when we moved from older Macintosh computers with floppy discs to iMacs.)

It looks like fun though. I feel like I missed out on it. 😭

1

u/[deleted] May 04 '23

Def missed a memory but you have your own. I just scrolled passed an Oregon trail game screen lol

2

u/nejicanspin May 04 '23

I remember getting so upset when my character died of dysentery. I didn't even know what it was and I was in 1st grade lmao

2

u/FLORI_DUH May 04 '23

It's so weird to see 90s nostalgia from the younger generation's perspective.

1

u/[deleted] May 04 '23

I’m 34 born in 88 :)

2

u/FLORI_DUH May 04 '23

Yep, I thought so. I'm a full decade older. No wonder we remember the 90s so differently.

1

u/[deleted] May 04 '23

Some examples of different? These photos don’t hit you?

1

u/FLORI_DUH May 04 '23

Like I said, it's weird how some hit and others don't. Ecto Cooler was my favorite, but I've never seen a Bop-It before, nor have I ever played a game of pogs, nor seen an episode of Capt. Planet or Power Rangers.

AOL chatrooms, ripped flannel shirts, rollerblades, and clove cigarettes are more reminiscent of the 90s for me.

1

u/AceofSpadeKings May 04 '23

Perfection and the View Master go more with the 80s.

1

u/CaptainWoodrow-fCall May 03 '23

Napster 😂. Still waiting for the FCC to come bust down my doors for all the media I stole back in the day

3

u/Sgt-Pumpernickel May 03 '23

Did we get that?

Yes we got the confession! Move in!

3

u/CaptainWoodrow-fCall May 03 '23

This got a good lol from me 😂

1

u/_catdog_ May 03 '23

I hate how these have all just become the most basic throw back shit, same stuff all the time

2

u/[deleted] May 03 '23

I got something for u next time

2

u/BarryJGleed May 03 '23

Nah, this is good work. Some classics, comfort food if you will. But you’ve thrown some curve balls in for the true heads.

2

u/[deleted] May 04 '23

I appreciate that you noticed. I prefer knuckle curves tho

-3

u/[deleted] May 03 '23

This sub is so low effort

4

u/[deleted] May 03 '23

It’s a nostalgia sub..it serves its purpose and seems to be a wholesome community I like it.

1

u/Fellowfungus May 04 '23

This is also part of the early-mid 00s as well. Not everything changed thru then. 😕

1

u/[deleted] May 04 '23

:)

1

u/[deleted] May 04 '23

What’s #10?
