The TV is too new. There’s a MacBook on the cart
Everything else is great

u/BeanDux May 03 '23
Yeah, I've noticed the ceiling mounted projector. Should've been an overhead with the clear plastic sheets. Lol.

When I was in high school, a teacher accidentally drew on his screen instead of the transparency. It’s probably still there.

I was wondering if the DVD/VCR player was a bit early too. I think DVDs finally exceeded VHS sales in 2001, although I’m wondering if those players had already been mainstream by that point?

The reflection in the tv looks like a guy taking a picture with his smartphone too

God the absolute fucking nonsense you'd get from Napster. I once downloaded a Cradle of Filth song that was tagged as "blues" 😐 I used to organize that shit by hand, but then I learned about id3 taggers so it was slightly less painful

All the different versions of the same song in the list; whiskey in the jar, whiskey in a jar, whiskey a jar, whisky in a jar, whisky in the jar. My friends and I still think back to the LimeWire mislabeled punk songs

That and all the gore/questionable porn you'd get thinking it was a song and then see you got a jpg. It was like a traumatic Rick roll!

omg KaZaA was my jam once Napster died. In college, the dorm had a no P2P sharing rule. I thought "screw this.. I'm gonna download it anyways" and the following day we all got voicemails on our room phones about P2P. I always assumed I was the catalyst, lmao.
Also, pretty sure some rogue file from KaZaA that nuked one of our family PC's. Oops.

Found a set with slammers and a mat to play on at Target the other day. Sadly my kids only tried it a couple of times despite my assurances it was fun!

Is that 13?
What were they? And what was their function, like, how did they work?
I remember them, but only vaguely……
1
May 03 '23
I vaguely remember too maybe someone could help but I just remember pushing them inside out and them snapping maybe snapping and thrusting upward can’t 100% recall
2
u/louellem May 04 '23
I thought it was that you turn them inside out and put them down on a table, and they flip back right side out and launch themselves into the air.

Bop It! Extreme was my shit. Got it during the Christmas of '99 with Crash Bash and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis for the PS1. I actually beat Bop It! Extreme a few days after I got it. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't it like 255 or 355 correct responses to master it?

While we’re talking about Captain Planet, can anyone back me up on this?
I was sick once, and I woke up really early in the morning, turned on the TV, and Captain Planet was on.
It was this episode where all of the characters have kids, it was implied to be unexpected, and their lives are absolutely nightmarish because of it.
That episode really stuck with me. I got confident buying condoms pretty early on, and am happily child free, I never plan on having children.
Does anyone else remember that episode?

May 04 '23
I barely remembered the name of the show let alone the episode lol can prob google the episodes tho

Dinopark tycoon remember playing it in school?
2
u/nejicanspin May 04 '23
No 😢 I remember KidPix, Oregon Trail, some underwater exploration game, a random kid friendly MS paint game, and something with a gumball machine and learning about words that rhymed. (This is from like 20 years ago though when we moved from older Macintosh computers with floppy discs to iMacs.)
It looks like fun though. I feel like I missed out on it. 😭
1
May 04 '23
Def missed a memory but you have your own. I just scrolled passed an Oregon trail game screen lol
2
u/nejicanspin May 04 '23
I remember getting so upset when my character died of dysentery. I didn't even know what it was and I was in 1st grade lmao
2
u/FLORI_DUH May 04 '23
It's so weird to see 90s nostalgia from the younger generation's perspective.
1
May 04 '23
I’m 34 born in 88 :)
2
u/FLORI_DUH May 04 '23
Yep, I thought so. I'm a full decade older. No wonder we remember the 90s so differently.
1
May 04 '23
Some examples of different? These photos don’t hit you?
1
u/FLORI_DUH May 04 '23
Like I said, it's weird how some hit and others don't. Ecto Cooler was my favorite, but I've never seen a Bop-It before, nor have I ever played a game of pogs, nor seen an episode of Capt. Planet or Power Rangers.
AOL chatrooms, ripped flannel shirts, rollerblades, and clove cigarettes are more reminiscent of the 90s for me.
